Review for My Hero Project Inc, Laguna Beach, CA, USA
My Hero Project has set the standard for using storytelling and media to celebrate and encourage the "better angels" of our human nature. Probably one of my favorite My Hero Film Festival nights was when two of my all-time heroes, Mohamed Sidibay and Erin Gruwell, were speakers - they lit up the sky for miles around.
Cleveland Charter High School has made good use of the My Hero curriculum and our film students have made their own enlightened movies. I have been so touched by their stories - especially when our students profile their parents or grandparents as their heroes.
My Hero - a simple and very accessible concept, with profound and world-changing impact - teaching everyone they too, can be a hero and change the world.
Review for Create Now, Inc., Los Angeles, CA, USA
This nonprofit has impressed me more than any other I've run across in the last decade. They do so much, for so many at-risk kids, with so little! They are well run, well organized and have a great vision for the future. I have been so impressed with how they reach out to the community, and involve kids in programs around the world. They are really giving young people the chance to envision different lives with more hope and possibility. A+
