Review for The Trevor Project, Inc., West Hollywood, CA, USA
This is a terrific organization helping meet a critical need in our community. With the spotlight on youth bullying and suicides, I know they have been busier than ever with the surge of media coverage. Although I have not been on the phone calling in for help, I have been brought in as youth to help train volunteers and also now as a trans-identified (specifically: genderqueer) person to share my unique experiences. I love what they stand for and hope to keep helping them do the great work they are able to accomplish. My hat goes off to those who volunteer who must be emotionally drained from hearing heartbreaking stories. Thank you, Trevor Project, for helping make this world a better, kinder and more loving place.

Review for Christopher Street West Association Inc, Burbank, CA, USA
This is an outstanding group of individuals that come together each year to bring about the best Los Angeles Pride season possible and somehow outdo themselves consistently. Every board member or volunteer I have come across has been excellent and kind to me. For full disclosure's sake, I was the honoree for outstanding youth leadership in 2009 and our relationship has held steady. To this day, I am still in touch with some of the members on a personal level and continue to give back when I can by being a parade judge, writing mini blogs about youth or just rounding up people to go in general. Even better than being an honoree, I was brought back next year to their special honoree brunch event and found out that because of my identifying as genderqueer, (in terms of gender) it inspired them to help make LA pride more inclusive. Traditionally, they had both a man and woman of the year, but realized that when they started to learn about different gender identities, they were not being inclusive and thus changed it to the person of the year award. They cared so much about my well-being and feeling included and would apologize if an event (as there are several) did not have a gender-neutral/unisex/family restroom for me to use. This meant more to me than the award itself (and that meant a lot!) and how they continue to tell the story about the change. Even with all of the faces they meet and all of the events they pull off, they still remember me and include me when possible. This organization has nothing but the best of intentions and I can't wait to celebrate more prides with them! I cannot say a bad thing about them as a whole because they do so much for our community and keep getting better :) Thank you, CSW!!!!!! You are much needed in our community!!!!!

Review for FRIENDS OF PROJECT 10, Pasadena, CA, USA
Friends of Project 10 has been a large part of my success. Between creating a safe space for LGBTQ youth to have their own "Gay Prom," awarding high school seniors with scholarships for furthering their education (who have contributed in some way to the lives of LGBTQ individuals regardless of their own gender or sexual identity) and starting Models of Pride's yearly LGBTQ + Allies conference... Friends of Project 10 is heaven sent. When I didn't feel comfortable at my own high school prom, FoP10 had a space for me. When my family didn't encourage me to further my education and I wasn't sure how to pay for it, I was rewarded for my volunteer work in the community. Even better, both attending as a participant and volunteer to their yearly Models of Pride conference has given me resources beyond comprehension. If I didn't join the planning committee, I wouldn't have met the wonderful family who took me under their wings and have helped me continue to succeed, even as odds seemed against me for quite some time. I cannot thank them enough and hope that some day when I am financially stable (and not paying off tons of college loan debt) that I may pay it forward. Thanks, Friends of Project 10!
