Review for Choose Courage Foundation, Crowley, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I am a fan and volunteer of The Choose Courage Foundation because, well look at their vision and mission:

Vision: to break the shame, stigma and silence of domestic abuse.
Mission: grow awareness, inspire victims to seek help, and prevent the next generation of abuse.

The Foundation wants to help break the shame women and men have felt by the stigma others may see as domestic abuse. Domestic abuse is not a private issue because the survivors are part of our community and we help are community.

Rhonda, the founder asked if I would be willing to let her photograph me to show others what courage looks like after surviving domestic abuse. I was apprehensive at first because as with most people, I can be self conscious. We scheduled the shoot in May but it was Texas, it was a hot. So now I’m nervous, sweating and trying to look like I have it all together. I was melting inside and out but Rhonda some how made me feel a sense of purpose and inspiration. Rhonda’s photographs captured a strength I don’t always see in myself when life happens. The photos also captured the gentle, forgiving and kind side of who I am as a person, the mom side.

I wish every survivor could see the same strength, kindness and beauty they have within themselves.

I am grateful to be part of the foundation because I want with all my heart to help end the stigma and shame of domestic violence. And we are by no other name, Survivors. Survivors share what happened to them so that others don’t have to go through it.

This amazing foundation’s mission is to bring awareness, to help victims seek help and to end domestic violence. Now how cool is that!!

Review for SafeHaven of Tarrant County, Fort Worth, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

SafeHaven helps others and provides such an impact on women but most of all the children. They show a child that others care about your well being and by doing so make a difference. Through education we can help end the cycle of domestic violence.
