Review for DonorsChoose, New York, NY, USA

Rating: 1 stars

If you want to help their CEO's pad their pockets with their six figure salaries and if you want to help the art supply companies who also help to pad the Donorschoose CEO's pockets and have actual donors pay up to 300% mark up to get materials then do it. I will look elsewhere for honest non-profits.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Investigating the policies and procedures of the operations of this company.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Keep the prices of materials low, spread the wealth to the people who need the materials not to the fat cat CEO's of Donorschoose. Let donors know that they are paying top dollar for materials and padding the pockets of not only the CEO's but the art supply companies.

Role:  Volunteer & Checked into the operating porcedures of this for profit company and found that they charge top dollar for art supplies. .

Review for The Dreaming Zebra Foundation, Portland, OR, USA

Rating: 5 stars

The foundation was born from an altruistic dream that is shared by all who volunteer and donate. From the time I picked up art and music supplies to the point of dropping them off to the different organizations in need, people would catch the synergistic and positive vibe that is at the base of this foundation. One of the most moving experiences I had was when a woman called and wanted to donate an incredible set of oil paints that she received from a dear friend of hers who died. She was relieved to tears to hear that her friends spirit would be living on at an art center for homeless teens. This is Dreaming Zebra and it is so much more.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

speaking with the donors and the recipients of the art and music supplies. It was powerful and joyful for all.

What I've enjoyed the most about my experience with this nonprofit is...

knowing that all the efforts of this foundation have the potential of touching lives of the youth in a profound way.

The kinds of staff and volunteers that I met were...

caring, thoughtful and fully committed to the foundation.

If this organization had 10 million bucks, it could...

touch more lives across the nation. It could give more youth a positive outlet in dealing with a tumultuous world.

How frequently have you been involved with the organization?

About every week
