Review for Congo Initiative, Germantown, WI, USA

Rating: 5 stars

As volunteers for an international outreach committee of our church since 2011, we have come to know some key leaders, staff, and volunteers of Congo Initiative, both in the U.S. and in Beni, Congo, including the extended Kasali family, Cullen Rodgers-Gates, Kyle and Emily Hamilton, and members of the current Board of Directors. This is a truly amazing and transformative initiative in a troubled nation by people who truly love their neighbors. In the past few years, the Bilingual University of Congo has made amazing physical progress, adding solar energy, completing its community center (with four new classrooms for training over 300 more students), adding faculty for research, theology, and psychological counseling, and developing a new law degree program. Most importantly, Its graduates have become leaders and advocates for human rights, improved agriculture, communications, and community development, to name a few of their accomplishments. Check out www.congoinitiative.org's new website, then join us in supporting a truly transformative, proven outreach by outstanding Congolese citizens!

Review for North Carolina Museum Of Life & Science, Durham, NC, USA

Rating: 4 stars

This museum is a great favorite of our family, including grandparents, adult children, grandchildren. I'm talking kids, toddlers to teens, just enthralled! It has outdoor as well as indoor activities and displays attractive to all ages, is very educational as well as being loads of fun: our family favorites outside are the playground, petting zoo, wild animal exhibits, wind and other nature exhibits, dinosaur trail, butterfly house, and the train. Inside favorites are special events (e.g. robots!), exhibits on weather, insects, physics exhibits, especially specialized play areas for children of different ages. There are fees but discounts for county residents and also annual passes. Check it out online and do come!

Review for Family Health Ministries, Chapel Hill, NC, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Two former members of my church, Blacknall Memorial Presbyterian Church of Durham, introduced me to Family Health Ministries about five years ago. I have met the local Durham office staff, attended fundraisers and heard directly from children and volunteers about the program and results in Haiti. I look forward to the annual report every year, and am very impressed with the progress of the ministry and its impact. I would recommend this organization as among the best in terms of the value of a donation- it really does directly help Haitians, including Haitian workers as well as Haitian families. Thank you, FHM board and staff, for all you do!

Review for Intervarsity Christian Fellowship-USA, Madison, WI, USA

Rating: 5 stars

One of the most formative organizations during my youth and college years, InterVarsity has provided local and national resources for growth in Christian faith and understanding across all denominations and university settings for many decades. For me personally, Nurses Christian Fellowship was extremely helpful to me as a nursing student, graduate nurse, and throughout 40 plus years of nursing practice. The Journal of Christian Nursing provides excellent advice and help to nurses in all nursing fields, from practice to education and research. Through NCF and IVCF, I learned key skills in how to read and understand Scripture, develop as a leader in my profession, and integrate my faith with my professional work and identity throughout my nursing career. InterVarsity works with and supports the local churches near college campuses, and connects students nationally and internationally. As an alumna, I just recently signed up with InterVarsity Press for discounts on books and bought several to share with family and friends who have questions about their own faith. InterVarsity is the go-to organization for students and faculty who integrate personal faith and disciplines in academia. I love it!

Review for United Service Organizations Inc, Arlington, VA, USA

Rating: 4 stars

The USO was very well organized and supportive of the effort to fly WW II Vets to Washington, DC to recognize their service to our country. I was present on the return of these elder veterans on a Flight of Honor as they arrived at the Raleigh-Durham Airport. The faces of the veterans and their families, the interaction of all the people there waving and applauding them, and especially the interactions of the vets and children in crowd - were all so heart-warming. The USO has been involved in this effort across the nation. Since my in-laws fought in WW II and I have had other family in the military, I know the USO has always been there for our military and appreciate the difference they make. The USO volunteers that day were great!

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Reports of military families about their services, sending supplies to the troops with friends. I have not been deluged with mailings or fundraising contacts.

Review for THE NORTH CAROLINA AQUARIUM SOCIETY, Raleigh, NC, USA

Rating: 4 stars

Nearly every summer for three decades, my family has visited the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores while vacationing. Now we visit with our grandchildren when they come for our "beach week". It is always such a delight, for grownups and children alike! Highlights include the "shark tank dives", when divers enter the huge tank and show and tell about different sea creatures. Another is the octopus, which one year came down from its perch, suction cups on the glass, to look my three-year-old grandson in the eye. Enthralling! If you are traveling on the NC coast, don't miss the aquarium!
