My Nonprofit Reviews
Review for Hope for the Warriors, Springfield, VA, USA
I am a member of Team Hope for the Warriors. I joined the Team last year, simply as a way of gaining entry into the NYC marathon. I thought it would be a good experience, and a worth while cause, I would run the marathon and be done. Little did I realize how impacted I would be by the work this organization does and the courage of the men and women they serve. Never have I seen an organization do so much with so little. Hope for the Warriors has earned this rating and deserves our support, financially and emotionally. I ran the marathon in 2010. I am running it again in 2011 as part of Team H4W, not because I needed the entry, but because it's the least I could do.
I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
Running on Team H4W and volunteering as a race committee member.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
Find them a corporate sponsor so they could afford to hire more resources to achieve their mission.
Would you volunteer for this group again?
For the time you spent, how much of an impact did you feel your work or activity had?
Did the organization use your time wisely?
Would you recommend this group to a friend?
Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)
I have definitely met some great people with similar interests, as well as service men and women whose sacrifices help me keep a healthy perspective on my own problems.
How did this volunteer experience make you feel?
Humble. Nothing I can do as a volunteer can compare to the sacrifices that our soldiers are willing to make for the rest of us.
