Review for Greyhound Adoption League of Texas, Inc., Dallas, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

In 2001, my husband & I adopted our first retired racing Greyhound. At that time, we entered a world of new friends who promoted these dogs with unparalleled enthusiasm. Looking back, I can't imagine what life was like before our involvement in the Greyhound community. Most Greyhound adoption groups are involved in the placement of retired racers, however, in addition to retired racers, GALT also takes in strays, abused and neglected Greyhounds from cruelty seizures. Regardless of condition or age, GALT makes every attempt to evaluate, rehabilitate and find each one a safe, loving home. While we have never adopted a dog through GALT (we live in Florida), we donate to groups across the country who we feel reflect the attitude, professionalism, and efficiency that continue to make a real difference in the lives of not only the dogs, rather, in peoples' lives, as well through public education and outreach. GALT is one such group.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...

Over the last few years, watching dogs in the most dire condition be brought back to health via GALT's vigilant attention to medical care and socialization programs utilizing a network of experienced veternarians and caring, loving foster homes is nothing short of astounding. Later, follow up photos posted by GALT or the new, adoptive families on social networks, and/or GALT's own website, are proof that what they do works very well!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

The only change I would make, if I could, would be to move to TEXAS and be a more "hands on" volunteer!

Was your donation impactful?

Definitely

How likely is it that you would recommend that a friend donate to this group?

Definitely

How likely are you to donate to this group again?

Definitely

What specific problem, purpose, priority, or project prompted your gift?

I don't remember the first time I donated (a couple years ago) but it was to help with the cost of vetting/rehabilitating a Greyhound that was in dire straits.

Why did you make your donation at this time?

To help GALT in their ongoing efforts to improve the health & lives of Greyhounds in their care.

What would you tell others about this organization?

This group helps and promotes actual Greyhound dogs and does not just behave as an activist group! If you are interested in helping a "hands on" group, you couldn't find a more worthy Greyhound placement group. Please consider helping GALT when you can, with whatever amount is feasible. GALT has always been very appreciative to us, regardless of the amount!

When was your last experience with this nonprofit?

2011

Role:  Donor & We donate to GALT, when we can, to help offset the burgeoning medical costs associated with vetting "special needs" dogs.
