My Nonprofit Reviews

Review for Placer County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty To Animals, Roseville, CA, USA
I have been volunteering with the Placer SPCA for almost 2 years. I have enjoyed working on the Pet Mobile at various events, as well as, tabling events at the local mall. During this time, not only have I been able to help cats and kittens get adopted, I have been able to answer questions the public have regarding spay/neuter programs, adoptions, becoming a volunteer, opportunities to help foster animals in need. I have helped people become aware that we have a facility in Roseville, California with a wide selection of cats, kittens and dogs just waiting for a forever home. I have handed out maps to our facility and later found those people looking for their future companion at the facility when I get back from volunteering on the Pet Mobile. These animals are all good, loving animals and our organization strives to match the animals personality with the owner's lifestyle so they are both happy. I am very happy to be affiliated with an organization that cares about the animals and the owners.

I've personally experienced the results of this organization in...
It is a great feeling when you see the animal go home with someone who genuinely wants the animal. It feels great when you see the animal bond with the new owner. You know they both are going to be happy.
If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...
I wish we had more volunteers to get even more exposure to our animals and the programs we offer and to be able to spend one on one time with all the animals. I wish that we could get some of the businesses to help advertise us at their sites. Perhaps get some free advertising regarding our events through free radio and tv ads and newspaper ads.

What one change could this group make that would improve your volunteer experience?
I am pretty satisfied with my experiences with Placer SPCA. I just wish we could get some free advertising exposure for our events. I think that would make even more people aware of our facility.
Did your volunteer experience have an effect on you? (teaching you a new skill, or introducing new friends, etc.)
Yes, it has made me realize that are so many great animals who just need a little help finding new homes. Without these people, they would be euthanized.
How did this volunteer experience make you feel?
I feel very good when I know I have helped a homeless animal find a home that will love and appreciate him/her.
