Review for Korean K9 Rescue Inc, Astoria, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I volunteer for Korean K9 as a foster and adoption interviewer. The foster program is extremely well-run and has given me the perfect opportunity to give back to an amazing organization (and spend lots of time with cute dogs!). The employees who manage the foster program are supportive, knowledgeable, and care about both the dogs and the foster volunteers. I'd recommend Korean K9 to anyone who wants to give fostering a try! You'll be set up with food, medicine, and even some toys/treats when you bring home your foster. You get direct communication with the foster coordinators via Slack, who provide almost immediate advice to any question or issue you have. This has been such a rewarding volunteer opportunity for me, and I'm excited to continue it as long as I can!

Review for Foster Dogs Incorporated, Brooklyn, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

I first heard about Foster Dogs in 2019 when I was looking for opportunities to foster pups in NYC. I attended a workshop called Fostering 101, which taught me a lot about what to expect when fostering. I ended up signing up for the Foster Roster, a list that Foster Dogs ran to help connect people with rescues that needed fosters. This was an awesome resource for me, and I ended up fostering my first dog via an opportunity I heard through the Foster Roster! Fast forward a couple years and I'm now a volunteer for Foster Dogs. I worked with them to organize two virtual livestream events, and was so happy to be collaborating with other people who were so passionate about animal rescue (attached a picture of our little team!). For the last year or so, I've also been writing social media captions for their #FosterFriday campaign, which aims to feature historically underrepresented groups and their contributions to animal welfare. I'm so pleased to see an organization like Foster Dogs tackle inclusivity and equity so publicly, and have even more private conversations about ways that we can move the industry forward towards a more equitable future. I'm excited to continue volunteering for Foster Dogs in the future!

Review for Shopping for a Change, San Mateo, CA, USA

Rating: 5 stars

This is my second summer interning for Shopping for a Change and it's been amazing to see the progress made in those short 12 months. SFAC is finding its place in the nonprofit world and its founder, Stacey Horowitz, is eager to continue spreading the word about her unique organization. I highly encourage others to not only shop their site (of course!) but also to read into the business model (proceeds go to pay artisans, support community improvement projects abroad, and donate to US charities), because it is indicative of how large and all-encompassing Stacey wants her realm of influence to be in this world.
