Amazing rescue with such an important mission! We adopted Kaya and had so much support from the entire team who really equipped us for success. We have since fostered 3 dogs with KK9R, and they have helped us every step of the way from providing all the resources we needed to how to best introduce fosters to Kaya. It has been such a joy to support this organization!
Korean K9 Rescue has helped me find not one but two of my dogs!
From the application, the interview, and all of the post-adoption support, you can tell that this rescue’s highest priority is making sure these dogs find perfect homes!
I’ve fallen in love so much with the rescue, I’ve been volunteering for the past year because I truly believe their mission is one worth supporting.
When you adopt through KK9 you don’t only get a new pet, you get a community of dog and animal lovers and I can honestly thank kk9 for connecting me with a number of people I now call friends
I signed up to foster w KK9. There was a ton of support, including a slack channel, foster guide, and personalized support. When I picked up my dog, I received food, medication and instructions for care. A few days later, I fell in love and inquired about the adoption process. I received a full orientation and more support. Even after adoption, I've been able to reach out with questions about his care. They really care about their animals and setting up their human partners for success!
We have been fostering with KK9R since the beginning of this year. With the great leadership team and support of the KK9R staff and volunteers, we've been able to foster seven dogs in our time with them and help these rescue dogs find their forever homes. It is so rewarding to know our simple contributions help the larger cause. Through the knowledge and support of the KK9R team we are able to help these dogs transition as easily as possible. We look forward to continuing to build our relationship with the KK9R community, and hope others join as well to make sure all dogs get the chance to be happy and free.
@astoriafosterpups
We had our first foster experience with Korean K9, and it was great! The staff and volunteers are so knowledgable and helpful. K9 has many resources and information for new foster parents like us.
All dogs are (so cute and) basically trained, the center has done their best to set up success for these rescue puppies to adapt the new city and being adopted. It was definitely a valuable experience, and we adopted our second foster dog that changed all our lives. :)
Meaningful work that K9 is doing, and you can take part of it too.
I'm proud to support Korean K9 Rescue as both a client and a volunteer. KK9R is incredibly well organized and it's clear that each and every dog is considered precious and well cared.
As a first time flight volunteer, the process to bring dogs to the States is well coordinated and required minimal effort from my part. Watching as the dogs make their way through the airport, both at Incheon airport and JFK, all impacted parties are very familiar with the process to transfer dogs. Easy to sign up and a couple emails later, I'm traveling home to NYNJ with two dogs.
As a foster, Vicky ensures I have all the tools and guidance to guarantee the smoothest transition for all newly arriving pups. And even though I recently foster failed with Corn (fka Bach), as an alumni, the adoption process was expedited with no hard feelings about foster failing. Just note, a first time client will have go through a robust vetting process but it's all done with the best intentions for the dogs.
Since joining this network in 2021, I've watched the impact KK9R has made on dogs of South Korea. Dogs deserve every bit of the good life and KK9R has held true to their mission statement.
With so many rescue orgs in NYC, it can be hard to find the best fit. As a volunteer, former foster parent, and recent adopter @ Korean K9 Rescue, I can say that the team is incredible, the process is very clear and hands-on, and I could not be happier with my experience and my rescue pup.
They have extensive resources for prospective and new adopters including orientation, manuals, vet recommendations, trainers, etc. An important piece for me is KK9R's post-adoption check-in process and the wonderful community they have built for "alumni" adopters.
Cannot recommend them enough!
Perfection in an organization! As an adopter, volunteer, and foster of KoreanK9, I am excited to share my glowing reviews of a five star rescue organization!!
I have been volunteering with KoreanK9 Rescue since January of 2023. The volunteer experience is extremely rewarding, the team is absolutely amazing and super kind, and the other volunteers share a passion for saving these sweet dogs.
I applied to foster with KoreanK9 Rescue and the process was super seamless, I started Fostering Thunder (Photos attached), and knew I had to adopt him! The organization was very supportive and walked me through everything, got on the phone with me whenever I had questions, and now that I have adopted Thunder I still chat with Gina and team weekly!
I don't think you can find a better organization they are truly one of a kind!
They saved my sweet Thunder and I am forever grateful, not to mention KoreanK9 Rescue is the best community.
Thank you
I stumbled upon KK9 when they were hosting an adoption event in my neighborhood. I was able to see the dogs, and my wife and I at that time were looking for adopt. We wanted the right fit, and their team wanted to make sure of the same.
In the meanwhile, I signed up to become a volunteer and learn more about their dogs, story, and process. It’s crazy once you know what these poor dogs have gone through. They have the saddest backgrounds, and need a lot of love and patience, and not everyone unfortunately understands this when they want to adopt.
Alas, my wife and I were fostering a little pup, and she fell in love with him, and he became our foster fail. Once adopting, training is required with one of their trainers, but the trainers have spent time at their facility in SK and understand what things have been through more than most. It’s been super helpful.
The team is on a mission and cares deeply about the wellbeing and future for the dogs they rescue. There’s no one quite like them, and admire them so much.
I’ve fostered with a few different organizations in nyc but Korean K9 are far superior. From the supplies they provide as a foster volunteer - fresh homemade dog food, safety harnesses and leashes and collars with gps tracking . They are so supportive too , always checking in and providing help when needed. You can tell all employees and volunteers care so much about the animals they are rescuing . They go above and beyond in ensuring the perfect match for the dog and their new paw-rents! Would highly recommend supporting this wonderful organization.
Fostering:
|After losing my beloved family dog prior to the pandemic I was unsure if I was ready for a new pup but tested the waters with KK9 Fostering and it was the BEST decision I could have ever made. They support you along the way in every single step and provide EVERYTHING. All you need to provide is your loving home, love to the new pups coming in, and drop them off at adoption events. I fostered two beautiful dogs Rose and Kami who just made me sooo happy. If I ever had questions they were always available to help out and I never felt alone. If you are considering fostering look no further and do not hesitate!
Adopting:
The most unexpected thing happened to me while dropping off my foster at an adoption event. I fell in love and met my new fur baby !! The adoption process again was so organized and they set me up for success with supplies and recommended trainer. You will get everything you need from medical records, learnings from previous fosters, and not to mention a community !! They will follow up with you and again you are never alone! You can always reach out to learn more or ask questions.
Korean K-9 changed my life for the better and if you are ready for this to be you look no further!!
We adopted our second pup through Korean K9 Rescue a few months ago and the entire process has been wonderful!
Not only does the rescue do everything the can to set families up for success, but they keep in touch after the paperwork is signed and create an easily reachable network for adopters to connect. I’ve met my dogs entire pup family!!
Love KK9R and so grateful for their hard work and uniting us with our boy.
I’ve have fostered four dogs for KK9R in the past 7 months and it’s been a great experience. KK9R provides majority of the supplies needed for a dog, they are also very responsive in case of any emergencies or issues you might be having with your dog. Overall, it’s been a really rewarding experience and I would love to foster and help as much as possible
We adopted our dog, Yeonggi (fka Ricky), from Korean K9 last summer and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. While their adoption fees definitely gave us pause initially, we quickly realized that its for good reason! So much care is put into the dogs before they reach your home. In Korea, the dogs work with trainers for months to prepare for NYC - everything from walking stairs, leash training, taking baths, going to the airport, crate training and more. My dog was aggressive towards male dogs when he first arrived at their Korean facility and they trained him out of it there (we're even fostering a male dog that Yeonggi is perfectly content living alongside).
Once they're in NYC, the fosters keep detailed notes about how things are going. Gina and Vicky check in with every foster dog daily to give guidance and make sure the dog is habituating well. We had such a wealth of information about our dog by the time he entered our home and with the help of our trainer (which Korean K9 assigned to us), he is so well-adjusted (and all of our friends comment on how well-behaved he is, especially for a rescue, which I take zero credit for).
Since then, I've started fostering and have seen first-hand just how much Korean K9 cares about their dogs. Gina and Vicky have done multiple Zoom sessions to coach me through a tough separation anxiety case, taken frantic calls from me in the middle of the day and even showed up in person in the middle of the night to help out when my foster dog got tapped by a car and bolted.
If you're looking to adopt a dog - yes, I know Korean K9 Rescue's process is rigorous and yes, it is a big commitment (both from a time and money perspective) but if you can afford it, you can't adopt from a place that truly loves their dogs (and their owners) more!
We adopted our pup from Korean K9 Rescue in 2021, and I have been volunteering with them since. You will not find a dog rescue that is better run and more hardworking than KK9R. Gina and the rest of the staff care deeply about these special dogs and couldn't be more dedicated to matching them with the right adopters and giving them the best possible homes. As an alumni, I will always be grateful for how above and beyond KK9R went to ensure that we were set up for success, and that our relationship with our pup was off to the strongest start. My volunteer experience over the last couple of years has also been insanely rewarding. The team is very organized and just all around lovely people, and they make the volunteer process easy and fun. My fiancé, pup and I all feel so lucky to be a part of the wonderful KK9R community and look forward to supporting them for years to come! KK9R is just the best :)
KK9R loves animals and their number 1 priority is the welfare of each and every animal that they take responsibility for. You won’t find many other organizations who show as much passion and commitment for the welfare of all animals. We have fostered and adopted with them and they have seen us through every single step to help us rehabilitate the dogs. I can’t say enough about how incredible this organization is at its core.
As a volunteer and a foster, I have first hand experience working with this mission driven and volunteer supported organization. They use science about what works to find the best home for each unique rescue. I am committed to support their amazing work.
It’s been a wonderful experience volunteering with KK9R as a foster parent to these pups. I have been following their work for years now and never quite felt ready to step forward as a foster. But when the opportunity presented itself, I took the plunge. The application process was thorough and quick, with clear communication on the expectations for a foster dog parent. Although I’ve never owned a dog myself, I never felt in thrown in the deep end - the team at KK9R is responsive and incredibly supportive.
The organizational skills of the team blew me away. The foster manual is well written and full of useful information and standards. The communication over slack is great to share experiences with the community and give updates on the foster dogs. Finally, the foster diary is another great example of discipline to ensure that the rescue team is well apprised on the well-being of the dogs. The great communication, organization and professionalism really emphasizes how much they care about these dogs. Any time I was challenge by a dog’s quirk, someone from the team offered to jump on a zoom call to give tips and support.
Really proud to be a small part of the team supporting KK9R. I’m currently on my third foster pup and love how I’ve been able to connect and follow the new lives of my former foster pups.
We have a long history with Korean k9 rescue. I adopted my 5yo Jindo almost 4 years ago. I found the agency online and they do wonderful work. They began as a small organization and continue to grow. We wanted to give back to the agency for our little Michi and decided to become foster parents last year 2022. It has been great! They have detailed training. They provide everything the foster would need such as food, crate, leash, harness, meds, etc. All you need to provide is the home, patience and care so the dog can continue to grow. Theyre very organized and communicative. If anyone loves animals and has the time and space to give back please consider becoming a foster parent. They solely rely on their volunteers to manage the new foster pups.
I cannot say enough great things about Korean K9 Rescue. I have personally fostered 5 dogs (and counting) from them and I have also adopted one of my fosters to add to my pup family! What they do for these dogs is above and beyond. I personally appreciate the rules and regulations surrounding their foster care system as it keeps the dogs safe. Once working with them, it is so clear where every dollar goes and that is right back to the dogs whether that is food, care, supplies, medical etc. So much goes into each and every dog. I have worked the most with Vicky and I can't say enough great things about her. She is warm, communication is always clear and she is so considerate. Gina is so knowledgable about the dogs and I know I am in good hands whenever I have any questions. The community that Korean K9 Rescue has built is so impressive and I'm so proud to be a part of it.
I had the opportunity to foster with Korean K9 recently. You can tell that the staff and volunteers at Korean K9 are not only knowledgeable and experienced in what they are doing, but they are incredibly passionate when it comes to rescuing dogs and preparing them for their new lives. I am not the only foster within the organization, but their unwavering support and regular check-ins with me and my foster was invaluable to my fostering experience with them. My foster dog was named Hayang, she is absolutely adorable and so sweet and playful. When she first came into my care she was absolutely terrified of walking outside. The rescue provided me with training tips on conditioning Hayang to be calm in the outside world was what I needed to help prepare my foster dog to be the best she can be.
I can’t wait to continue volunteering with this rescue and working with this fantastic team of wonderful kind hearted people.
TLDR: We adopted our dog from this rescue. They were very supportive and if/when we get another dog it will be from this rescue.
Korean K9 is an amazing non-profit! We adopted our beautiful dog Mari from them. It was great and I think there are a lot of things they do that other rescues don’t:
- they have a facility in Korean (where all the dogs are from) where they do intake of dogs, do some training and socialization, and get know their needs and personality.
- they do a great job of making sure the dog is a good fit for the adopter;, they know each dog well and are very candid about what their needs are.
- they provided lots of tips on feeding and care, connected us with a trainer, and helped set training goals.
We also have volunteered to foster dogs for them. It’s a really fun way to see if our dog will get along with a second dog, and Korean K9 is great with making sure we have food and supplies.
We adopted two sweet babies from Korean K9 and both times their process was seamless. June 2019 we adopted our first little guy and he was a timid but incredibly sweet boy. KK9 gave us all the tools we needed to make sure the wound thrive in his new home, and three years later, he is running the house! After having such a wonderful first experience we decided to start looking for a partner in crime for our pup, and we knew it had to be KK9. Thankful to report we had another seamless and quick adoption of another happy, wiggly, sweet girl. We are now loving life as a family of two dogs! We owe our happy pups to KK9 and all of their hard work, both in Korean and the US!
I adopted Jungnam now Monsoon 5 months ago. He’s a very well adjusted little dog who is friendly, loving and affectionate.
We’re on vacation for 2 weeks at the beach in CT. He loves running on the beach and trying to avoid the waves. He adjusted right away to his new adventure.
I joke with people that he thinks he lives in Beverly Hills!
Korean K9 Rescue is an amazingly well run organization and everyone I’ve met from there is so loving to people and dogs.
The work they do saving dogs, rehabilitating and loving them is overwhelming.
The lives these dogs lived in Korea was horrendous. They are very careful who they place the dogs with which pretty much guarantees a very loving home for these previously neglected dogs.
My experience with them has been exceptional.
We adopted Cayambe (previously Fommy) 9 months ago and are so thrilled that she's a part of our family now. She joined us and our bulldog mix Vesuvius in our home and has blossomed into an outgoing, loving dog.
When we first got her, she was fearful of us and new people, but she has over the months, opened up and now greets new people with confidence. We've been able to build a relationship of trust with her and are now in a place where she's able to run around in the forest with her dog friends off-leash to explore the woods and swim in creeks. We can't thank Korean K9 enough for their thoughtful, robust process of vetting, and training us to make a safe and welcoming home for her so that she can build a new life with us with ease. We couldn't have done it without their structure and guidance! Highly recommend KK9R!!
I volunteer for Korean K9 as a foster and adoption interviewer. The foster program is extremely well-run and has given me the perfect opportunity to give back to an amazing organization (and spend lots of time with cute dogs!). The employees who manage the foster program are supportive, knowledgeable, and care about both the dogs and the foster volunteers. I'd recommend Korean K9 to anyone who wants to give fostering a try! You'll be set up with food, medicine, and even some toys/treats when you bring home your foster. You get direct communication with the foster coordinators via Slack, who provide almost immediate advice to any question or issue you have. This has been such a rewarding volunteer opportunity for me, and I'm excited to continue it as long as I can!
I've been volunteering with KK9R over the past year as a foster and at adoption events and am constantly amazed by their dedication to their mission. They truly make a positive difference in the lives of the many dogs they rescue, as well as the community of volunteers and adopters involved. I am so grateful for all that they do and happy to be part of the supportive KK9R community!
I’ve had the pleasure of fostering for Korean K9 Rescue five times since October 2021. They are very responsive and helpful whenever I have a concern or I need help training a foster dog. They create a community of fosters that can help each other and I always look forward to fostering with them.
We first heard of Korean K9 Rescue (KK9R) through mutual friends who knew about the organization. When we finally decided to adopt a dog ourselves I did some research on where to adopt and they soon became our first choice. From sending in the adoption application to interview and getting the approval decision, everything was done very thoroughly. It almost felt like a job interview at times but through this process, we could tell how serious they were about finding the best home suitable for the dogs, which they have put down a lot of work and effort to save from Korea. I can definitely tell that KK9R want to ensure that their dogs actually go to FOREVER homes and want to set up the adopter of the dogs for success. To be honest we ended up adopting a very fearful dog and without all of the requirements they had when adopting we would have ended up as very frustrated dog owners and might have even made bad decisions.
After adopting our dog I really fell in love with their mission and kept thinking about how else we could stay involved and help besides donating money. We decided we wanted to help foster. Again, KK9R is really thorough with the whole fostering process, from application to the day the dogs gets adopted, they give support to the foster all of the way. They provide over 70% of supplies that the dog needs to be successful in a foster home. They even provide food, I have honestly not seen any other organization offer to provide food for fosters, usually fosters have to provide everything. Currently we are on a fostering hiatus but that does not stop me from wanting to be involved with and support this great organization, when I have time I volunteer to help with screening the foster applications. KK9R is a great organization and deserves all the help and support they can get for this amazing mission and effort put into rescuing and rehabilitating all these dogs that they have saved and are going to save.
I have been fostering with Korean k9 for about 2 years now and it has been a wonderful experience. The team is great to work with and makes the fostering process easy. I have always felt prepared for every dog that I foster and if I have any questions they are very quick to reply or even FaceTime me to make sure I have my questions answered. It has been such a rewarding experience and I have helped 18 dogs so far find their forever homes!
Korean K9 Rescue is a team of incredibly dedicated professionals devoted to bringing dogs who deserve a good life into loving homes. I have been a foster with them for about a year and am always impressed with the care and support they give to these dogs. It is so rewarding to see dogs who are scared and shy come out of their shell as they find their humans to love and care for them. KK9R ensures adopters are ready for the responsibility of having a dog and prepare each adoptive family to help them be successful, both the family and the dog.
I've been with Korean K9 Rescue for over a year now and I am truly impressed with this organization. It is a small team but it is run efficiently and professionally. Everyone from the staff to the volunteers are passionate about savings these dogs in Korea and committed to going above and beyond to find these pups a home. There is a lot of work and time that goes into rescues that many people do not know... from spreading awareness and saving the dogs in Korea all the way up to bringing the dogs to NYC, raising funds, finding fosters and finally their forever families.
Whether you are looking to foster, adopt, or volunteer, every role is so important to rescues and KK9R is one of the best rescue organizations out there to be a part of!
I started volunteering with KoreanK9 in August 2020 as a foster. Eventually I ended up "foster failing" aka adopting one of my fosters through them.
I really enjoy my time fostering with Korean K9 because of the support they provide. I appreciate that they have regular adoption events, provide all the food supplies, and do their best to provide support wherever they can, when the foster dog enters my care. Having fostered for other rescues, I honestly believe that KK9 stands out from the rest because of the aforementioned qualities. Many of these dogs have come from a traumatic past and it is heartwarming to be part of their road to recovery and positive future ahead. Even after I have adopted my own dog from them, I still continuing fostering with KK9 because I want to support their mission and I believe that they give one of the best care to these rescue dogs, out of the other NYC rescues I've worked with.
As an adopter, I'm glad to have adopted my dog with Korean K9. The alumni adopter community is amazing as many of us work through similar challenges with our rescues and are compassionate with each other. Whenever someone asks a question in our facebook group, it is usually met with empathy and lots of suggestions. We all just want to help each other grow and give the best life to our rescue dog ♥️ I love that alumni support each other through hosting pack walks to help with socialization, help each other out with with gear swaps or dogsitting, and sharing their training journey. Additionally I appreciate KK9 continuing to keep adopters in the loop on new missions they are embarking on, or hosting annual get togethers to meet other adopters and spend time with our dogs!
I’ve been volunteering with KK9R since 2019 and I continue to be impressed with how passionate they are about dog rescue and education. They not only handle their adoption process with great care but also guide new adopters through every step of their new life with their pups and remain a constant resource for them. Through my volunteer experience I’ve had the pleasure of seeing many dogs be adopted into great homes, petting a lot of special pups, and making good friends through this special community!
I adopted a dog from Korean K9 Rescue and absolutely adore her. I'm thankful to Korean K9 Rescue for the training that they gave her and all the information they gave me to set me up for success. There's also a strong community of adopters that I can ask for advice, socialize with, and share cute dog photos.
We had been looking to adopt for a while and had almost given up due to the high demand and difficulty to stand out when applying online. Well, this was a blessing in disguise, as we randomly stubbled upon a KK9R adoption event on a Saturday! Let’s be honest, the process was rigorous - but very understandably so, because it only shows how dedicated and committed to their mission they are. We got as much information as possible through an orientation, recommended trainer, diet information, vet information. Truly, everything is done to set you and your dog up for success. As a first time pet owner, this was very reassuring. We could not be happier about this beautiful addition to our family and will be forever grateful.
This is one of the best rescues ever! Korean K9 is extremely committed to making sure each pet finds the perfect home. I couldn’t thank them enough for allowing me to adopt my sweet, perfect Mango (formerly known as Mati)! I feel extremely lucky to have been chosen as her adopter and they have been very helpful with every question/concern I’ve had. Every since I adopted her, everything has gone so smoothly and she has adjusted to her new, forever home so, so well. This rescue genuinely cares about each one of their animals and I could never thank them enough for all they do! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
We fostered several dogs with Korean K9 and then eventually adopted from them. They've been an incredible resource throughout, ensuring that every dog receives the best care and that each foster/adopter has all the information they need to succeed. They also do a great job at creating a sense of community among everyone who's associated with the organization. Once our dog is a bit more settled, we look forward to hopefully fostering again!
When I first became familiar with Korean K9 Rescue, I was floored by their tireless commitment to saving dogs from the meat trade. Shortly after, I had the opportunity to volunteer at one of their in-person events. Since then, helping out on adoption days has become a regular part of my life. It's so rewarding (and so fun!) to spend time with KK9R's staff, my fellow volunteers, and the pups as each individual dog is expertly matched with their perfect forever family. I greatly admire Gina and the rest of the team, and I feel so lucky to be part of this organization.
I have been volunteering with KK9R for the past 3 years and it has educated me immensely about the dog meat trade and the work that has gone in to making positive strides in this area. Volunteering with the group has provided me the opportunity to learn more about fearful dogs and the immense amount of work that goes into rehabilitation. Fostering for the group has been such a gratifying experience and eventually led me to meeting our beautiful and unique pup, Ruthie!
I’ve been volunteering with Korean K9 Rescue for the past 3 years and am so impressed with everyone at the organization. They always put the animals first and make sure that the dogs go to the best home. I have met some of the kindest people while volunteering with KK9R and always recommend them to anyone looking to adopt or volunteer!
Volunteering with KK9 has been the most gratifying experience I've ever had. I discovered the organization after volunteering at another animal shelter in the city. It was there that I became aware of the dog meat trade happening in Korea. After a few unsuccessful attempts to adopt myself, I recognized how much work and effort it takes besides applying. Through volunteering at events I've learned much about different types of temperament in dogs whether they are cute, cuddly, fearful/timid, shy, highly energetic and playful. The staff teaches you how to communicate with applicants, prepping events and the most essential of all; how to handle the dogs safely and securely. Afterwards you get to see some of them off with their new families. Along the way I've gained a lot of knowledge with transporting dogs, fostered some myself, vetting new arrivals and learning about nutritional health for the dogs in the process. Even doing this for close to 3 years now there is still much more learn. Gina and her staff deserves a lot of the credit and admiration for the amount of work they do. They are pretty much at it 24/7. I'm glad I'm along for the ride.
After seeing a photo series documenting the horrors of the trade in Korea that I felt that I needed to do something to help these poor dogs. A quick google search led me to KK9R. I filled out the application and within a week or so was able to start volunteering. From the staff to the other volunteers, you can tell everyone that is there wants to be there. Even when the events are busy, every effort is made to make sure the dogs are being properly cared for. The best part is: it is so much fun! I left my first event already ready to sign up for more. A couple of years later, I am still at it!
Korean K9 Rescue is one of the hardest working and devoted rescue organization I've come across and most grateful for. It was imperative for me to see that they vet their potential adopters extensively to make sure their dogs head to welcoming and fit homes. They are extremely committed to giving their dogs the best possible lives and help aid in their adjustment to city life, resourceful in training guides, and available for any questions for first time pawrents. Sancho has discovered his own community of KK9 rescues and have the best time socializing!
My husband and I rescued our dog from this incredible organization in 2018 and I have been volunteering with KK9R since February 2020. I can truly say KK9R goes above and beyond in caring for its people and its pups. It has been very rewarding to see the pups get matched with the right families and the dedication the teams makes to ensuring so. I’m endlessly impressed with the team and their commitment. It’s truly a special organization- like no other.
I’ve been volunteering with KK9R since last October and it’s been very rewarding seeing pups get matched with the right families. My boyfriend and I adopted from KK9R in 2018 and our pup has brought us so much happiness and love. So happy to give back anyway I can and the experience thus far is priceless.
I have been so happy and fortunate to work with Korean K9 Rescue. They are so friendly, great people all around, and care so deeply for the animals that they work so hard for. The events are run smoothly and it is so rewarding to get to see all of these dogs go home to good families. KK9R not only cares about getting dogs homes, but making sure they go to the right homes for their own rehabilitation. I would highly recommend them for anyone looking to volunteer.
Very warm, supportive team of dedicated dog lovers. It’s all about the dogs at the end of the day, and making the best home possible for them. As a volunteer, you will chill with beautiful dogs that are full of character, learn a lot about best practices for dogs including diet and behavioral training (if you are interested and ask questions at least). You’ll field questions from prospective adopters and fosters, help fosters get their supplies. Really just help however you can, because there is a dedicated staff that has things under control. Any questions, fee free to reach out to the team, they will be happy to answer.
We have fostered many Korean K9 rescue pups over two and a half years. We really like their philosophy and the Effort that they go through to help and care for these rescue dogs.
Korean K9 Rescue is an amazing organization. Gina and her team work tirelessly to save dogs in need and have given hundreds of dogs a second chance.
I can’t thank Gina and Korean K9 Rescue enough for the profound work they do saving these beautiful dogs. The amount of care, integrity, and education they put into their adoption process is unmatched and I’ve learned so much about how to become the best dog owner I could be from this.
I truly respect their dedication to the rescuing of these animals and their mission to educate the public about what happens in the dog meat trade. Their works has affected so many human and dog lives and I’m grateful for the beautiful dog that is now in my life.
We found our girl on their instagram page and fell in love. The process was speedy and thorough. Once our application was approved we had our puppy home with us in a matter of days. They set you up with a trainer in order to help facilitate the best transition for your dog and give you lots of information on the adjustment period. We’re so grateful for Gina and the whole Korean K9 Fam; definitely look into rescuing with this awesome organization.
I had the pleasure of fostering over 20 doggies with Korean K 9. I learned a lot and gained a great deal of respect for the people who run this organization. The dogs are coming to the US, fugitives from the Korean meat trade. The work that Gina and company do is unceasing and voluminous. Their main concern is the safety and future prosperity of these wonderful dogs. Korean K9 is the real deal if your interest is bringing aid and love to some of the most at risk dogs in the world.
We have adopted our dog Hugo from this great rescue and keep meeting so many new dogs in our neighborhood that they have saved from uncertain fate in South Korea. We also foster so many sweet dogs through them and believe they need all the support they can get to keep up this expensive and logistically challenging rescue.
Korean K9 Rescue is changing the lives of both people and pups for the better. They work tirelessly at their facilities in South Korea and here in the United States to ensure each of their dogs have proper medical care and the rehabilitation needed to thrive. These dogs are special and can have complex histories, but KK9R never gives up on them. It's thanks to them that so many canines get to have their second chance at life. Without KK9R, these dogs would never have gotten that chance. On top of their adoption efforts, they also have amazing foster and volunteer opportunities that bring our community together and help support their overall mission. We have adopted two bundles of joy from them, and we will always be eternally grateful for the amazing work they do.
I've adopted two dogs from Korean K9 Rescue. They are extremely committed to giving their dogs the best possible lives once they arrive in the United States. They start them on a holistic raw diet, place each dog in a loving foster home to help aid in their adjustment to city life, and work on training. When it comes to adoption, they are very thoughtful about who they select as adopters and in making sure the dog is a good match for the human. They want to find adopters who will follow through with KK9R's mission of giving the dogs a happy and healthy life.
When we applied to KK9 Rescue we went through a lovely interview process. Once we approved to meet dogs, we attended a well organized event and got to meet two dogs. We applied formally for one dog and found out a few hours later that she was matched with us. The organization made it very clear that they wanted to match dogs with the families that would be able to provide them the best home. Our dog has luxating patella's and we were told that we would need to support her with this if we adopted her. There was no sort of medical issue that was hidden, which we greatly appreciated! Since then, we have stayed in close contact with KK9 and are volunteers. We absolutely love the dedicated work that they do and hope to adopt another dog from them in the future.
I volunteer for Korean K9 Rescue and adopted my dog Lola from them! They are extremely caring, thorough and dedicated when working to find the right fit for both the adopter and dog. They take each pairing very seriously and think about the long term happiness for both parties.
Volunteering for them in person is always really wonderful-you meet great people and awesome dogs! Now, during COVID, the remote volunteering is also very rewarding.
As an adopter, Korean K9 Rescue has a strong community of other adopters and both volunteers/employees for support. Whether you are looking for a trainer or food for your picky dog, someone is always happy to help!
The mission of Korean K9 Rescue in undeniably important and it has been incredible watching this non profit grow each year and save thousands of dogs. They are the best!
