This organization, Calif. Lake Mangement Society, or CALMS, is a gathering of lake or reservoir professionals who meet at least annually to share problems, solutions and plan for educational seminars and scholarships to enhance understanding of lakes and limnology in the California, Nevada and Arizona region. Participants usually include: major water suppliers for municipalities, regional parks, homeowner associations with significant water features and consultants/contractors who regularly provide services to lake/reservoir managers. Specific topics covered typcially include: algae bloom monitoring, control strategies and results, invasive aquatic plants and fish/shellfish management problems and solutions, renovation and protection of reservoir facilities and regulatory compliance in balance with the above issues .
