Peppertree saved our dog JACK from Georgia and he lived an excellent life as a therapy dog and great family member. Peppertree's approach of having dogs placed in foster families makes it easier to place dogs in the best setting for success.

My wife and I adopted our dog Jack through Peppertree about six months after I retired. He was rescued from a tough situation in Georgia and came up to the Capital Region in the summer of 2011. What was especially good about Peppertree is that their volunteers worked with us to find the right match for us. Given that it had been 45 years since I had a dog in the home, they really worked with us to find a dog that would fit for us. Jack has developed from a scared dog to a very self confident therapy dog and agility dog.
I was looking to adopt a dog after my dog passed away. I found a 9 year old Golden Retriever on the Peppertree website. I submitted a application and the foster contacted me. She was a great person, answered all my questions and set up a meet and great. I loved the dog an decided to take him home. I was very impressed with the foster and the whole organization. When I was looking for another dog to adopt I went back to Peppertree and again was impressed with the organization and decided to volunteer. I have been volunteering and fostering for them now for 4 years. It is a great group of volunteers that do so much for the dogs they try to place and the people that are adopting. A great group.
Several years ago, I decided that I would like to foster dogs for a rescue group. So I did a little research and attended several local adoption clinics. I have to say that the people (and dogs by the way) Peppertree's adoption clinic were all friendly and welcoming to me and my little terrier who was looking for a buddy to hang out with. When I learned how much Peppertree did for senior dogs and dogs in need of medical help and rescue, I decided to offer to foster a dog. I think it's been 6 years now and I'm so happy I decided to do this. I've had so many wonderful dogs to foster and made some wonderful human friends in the process.
I've been volunteering for Peppertree for about 2 years now. I love the dedication Peppertree has to placing dogs with the right people. The dogs always come first with Peppertree and all of the volunteers spend a tremendous amount of time match-making as well as doing follow up with the adopters. The Peppertree family also provides a wonderful support system for all it's adopters. The open communication amongst the volunteers also allows volunteers to branch out and help in different areas that they may not have known about otherwise.
