Agency is doing a great job. Our company campaign increased significantly this year. The CEO and the County Sheriff both spoke at our employee meetings and gave a great first hand account of the needs in our area. As the campaign manager for many years, I see how far they have come in just the past 2 years.
I 100% support United Way GCR. The people are all wonderful and quirky and dedicated to making a difference in our community. When I first got involved with UW, I had no idea the profound support that they offer so many community programs. The impact the United Way has on other non-profits in the region is unmatched; many of them wouldn't be able to survive with out it. I am grateful that I was able to get involved at such a meaningful level.
I received support for a difficult issue through my union rep who contacted them on my behalf. Financial and referral resources were given me and we were able to stay in our home.

I received a personal thank you from the CEO this year. Hand written. I have been donating for years through my workplace. first time this has ever happened.

Our agency just received funding from the United Way. It was a rigorous process that emphasized results. I see United Way everywhere and this was not the case a few years ago. They are truly making a difference.

Our agency receives funding from United Way. They have done a great job the last year with communicating their impact agenda. they have also done much to improve their visibility and brand. The agency was in trouble a few years ago but is on the right track.

United Way is back on track. Some key changes in leadership have made all the difference. they are including agencies in the discussions about the future. They are trying to raise awareness and money. They have some innovative advertising and marketing strategies.

I am involved with the community impact committee and am impressed with the progress we are making. In a difficult economy, we have managed to stabilize our funding and still make the shift to funding strategies that have higher impact. We have an outstanding income stability effort in our Cash program and are now funding hunger initiatives that truly make a difference.

Our agency was unhappy with the leadership and direction of United way. that has all changed in the last 2 years. the organization is doing a good job communicating, has reorganized internally and externally and a few new key hires are bringing new skills and passion to the organization.
Our board thinks thety are on the right track in a difficult time.
This organization has gone through a dramatic change in the last two years. They are much more visible and relevant. There is new leadership that is trying hard to elevate the importance of community-wide support for important unmet bneeds. Our agency receives funding and we were close to leaving two years ago. we are now committed and feeling strong about the direction the agency is headed.

I had stopped giving but recently returned after a visit from the CEO and Board Chairman. I had been a major donor and thought the organization had lost it's focus. i am convinced now that they are on the right track. The chairman is a Labor Leader and I am not pro-union, but I felt his commitment to the larger community. The CEO is not typical. He is reserved, almost quiet but in researching him and I did, I found that key community, business and non profits found him to be sincere and highly effective. I am renewing my support and my company's as a result. They are not out of the woods and giving had been declining but I think they have the right people to turn it around.
This organization is well governed by our Board of Directors. We have been through some difficult times and a merger a few years ago that did not go very well. New management and a renewed commitment on the part of our Board have us headed in the right direction. A new Campaign team is in place and the community Impact agenda is finally on target and moving forward. Our Board is very positive and feels we are headed in the right direction.
We take our fiduciary responsibilities very seriously and our overhead is coming down due to creative fund raising and budget management.
Outreach to agencies who were unhappy has been a priority and a renewed commitment from the community is developing.
I personally know one of the managing members and believe that they are overpaid. When the average salary in Amsterdam NY is 40K, could someone explain to me why this person is making 100K+. I would rather give to a church at least the money will go to those who put the mission before fancy houses and cars.

I've been a donor to United Way Capital District for 10+ years and I'm not impressed by the financial score of this organization. Compare this group to other United Way chapters and you'll agree. They better improve their score or they'll lose my annual donations to another organization that is more fiscally responsibie.

I represented a funded agency that was continuously cut for a number of years. They were moving to an impact strategy and had decided to fund it by cutting all the traditional agencies. A new Board got put in place and a new Executive Director who tabled those changes and is sekking to reverse the decline in giving. I am encouraged by their direction and progress too date.

This organization has been through some challenging times. A new CEO has been brought in to rejuvenate the organization. There appears to be a lot of positive change happening now. They are trying to focus on major impact areas and generate new funding.
