Mission: Mainly Mozart’s mission is to enrich the lives of today’s and tomorrow’s passionate music lovers by connecting them to the music of Mozart and the Masters, to world-class musicians, and to each other. Mainly Mozart has three core program areas: Mainly Mozart Festival, Spotlight Series and Outreach.
Programs: The annual Mainly Mozart Festival, with a home in downtown San Diego's newly-renovated Balboa Theatre, reaches 10,000 residents and tourists annually. The Festival—founded in 1988—is one of the largest, most prestigious Mozart festivals in North America. This June event has become a staple of San Diego cultural tourism. The Festival features the nation’s top orchestral players in an “all-star” orchestra under the baton of Maestro David Atherton. The Mainly Mozart Festival orchestra comprises the largest assemblage of concertmasters and principal players from the nation’s leading orchestras in the United States. This includes players from the Cleveland, Minnesota, St. Paul Chamber, Philadelphia and Metropolitan Opera Orchestras; San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Seattle, Atlanta Symphonies; and Los Angeles and New York Philharmonics, among others
Mainly Mozart has been the ONLY organization that has allowed a me a venue whereby I can expose friends and family to classical music in a very 'user' friendly environment. The evenings are interesting and the locations vary so that it's always a new experience. The also provide music to children and to me, this is wonderufl!
We get to experience chamber music the way it was meant to be enjoyed - in a cozy intimate salon setting. We enjoy wine and appetizers before the performance and dinner afterwards. It's a delightful evening.
This is the best music in San Diego,in our opinion. The Spotlight series has been consistently superb and the June Festival ,now at the Balboa theater, is wonderful every year. The Amadeus Society is made up of true music lovers and lots of fun besides!
