Design (EPICS) has worked with iCAST since I was Director of the programs. They have provide outstanding projects in a variety of arena. These projects have provided our students with engineering challenges, the opportunity to be creative and innovative and projects that require an analytical experience consistent with their level of studies at Mines. More important, as clients, Ravi and his staff has introduced the students to working with a client and have provided the mentoring they need to develop both the technical and communications skills they will carry into their careers. A very special thank you to the iCAST staff.
iCAST helped me to get real world experience while at the same time helping out economically disadvantaged people in Colorado's San Luis Valley. As a service learning intern I performed computer simulations of several houses in the San Luis Valley as part of a study on the economic feasibility of various energy efficiency and solar energy technologies specific to the San Luis Valley. The experience I gained from my work with iCAST was invaluable and the result of the study was to provide people of the San Luis Valley with general guidelines about the most cost effective ways to reduce their energy expenditures.
