Got denied for a puppy when my family has fostered well over 50 dogs for AFEW animal rescue their board of directors denied my application without even having a conversation with me. Just took my 10$ and that was it. Never again. Not to mention I’ve heard horror stories of them taking people dogs away after years. Terrible organization.

I have submitted an application to Husky House twice in the last few months and both times denied because the Board of Directors felt I did not meet their criteria. Both times I asked what the criteria was and was not given an answer. They do not even have the common decency to respond either by email, text or phone.

My husband and I have previously owned 4 Siberian Huskies over the years, 2 of which have been rescues. Needless to say, we are experienced and responsible husky owners. We are retired, so we are home every day and have the time and love to give one of these rescues.

Looking at pictures of the adopters on HH website, it appears adopters are given to relatively younger families. That being said, it appears my age is a factor. Without following up on references, or house visit or even a phone call to ask questions, I would consider this age discrimination! This rescue does not care about finding a good, loving home for the animals. Shame on them!!!!!!

Horrible place. There are much better places to adopt a Husky from. The people sitting on the "Board" don't know what they are talking about. For the "Board" to deny my application for a Husky pup because they said how a pup (a few months old) could escape from my fenced in yard but would be willing to set me up with a Husky that is 1 year or older is just ignorant. Never have I heard of such "logic" before. This was told to me after loosing 3 different pups I wanted to adopt and after I spent time and money to fix the areas, "they" felt a puppy could escape from.....I guess pups can now flatten themselves out, like mice can do, to fit through a very small opening. I've own high content wolf dogs for well over 20 years, plus other domesticated dogs as well, since I was a kid. Never once had I ever had a pup of a few months old escape from my yard. Unacceptable and ignorant is all I could say. Save yourself the time, money and aggravation by going to another place that rescues dogs who really know what they are talking about. Maybe another facility should rescue the dogs from the Husky House, for they are the real victims here....poor animals.

They make up lies about dogs and refuse to offer any proof. If you ask questions on their social media that they don't think it's on their favor, they block you and delete it. Lot of shady things happening in this rescue.

Adopted our pandemic puppy #freelily for 3 months before she was stolen from us by HH. My wife dropped off Lily to get fixed and that was the last time we ever saw her. They claim that we were unfit. So they stole our dog, stole our $450 and then re adoptwd Lily for another $450. A b oid this place.

I submitted an application a week ago and received no response. I followed up today and got an email back saying I was denied without citing any criteria. I have been a responsible pet owner my entire life and am really angry that they would deny me without checking my references or talking to me.

Dear Applicant

We have completed the review of your application and it has not met the criteria set forth by the Board of Directors.

Therefore, the application is denied. We hope you continue to support local animal rescue.

Regards,

Husky House Board of Directors

No one called my veterinary or reference. I own my home with a 6' vinyl fence around the property. I inquire why but no response the only reason I can think of they think I am to old 66.??? ( I am active I walk at least 4 mile a day I enter 5 k races . I have done Sprint Triathlon
last year) I think Tennyson would have been a good fit , but what do I know

This “rescue” steals animals after they are placed in their loving forever homes. They take your $400 and say it’s a “deposit” for fostering. Never in my whole life have I ever heard about you paying to foster an animal for a rescue. This leaves the family heart broken, and the dog. DO NOT ADOPT FROM THIS PLACE.

So I adopted Rusty from HH on April 13 2018. Into 3 months later I decided I was going to rescue another yorkie named Kayla so I signed the form she had to get neutered I would keep her for 2 days and then return her for the procedure. I had my behavorial/pet sitting person pick her up Lorraine and staff refused to give her back. I left worked early to go get Kayla and Lorraine told me that she was not giving her to me and that I could either take the cash or she would send me a check. I was so angry. So these rescue places know lots of people apparently was told that Lorraine is crazy and has done this before to other adopters. Its a shame I did call the Health Dept. and hope that conduct a through investigation into what is going on in that place.

There are not many rescues around I can say I am totally turned off with and refuse to endorse as far as their foster work but Husky House is definitely one of them. They fail to live up to any formidable standards as far as trying to find homes for these dogs as they never return communication on their available dogs and blow off repeated requests for information on their rescues. When I see a dog that is being offered through husky house I feel it is almost a death sentence for them as there is no way they would be adopted with the current participation of Husky house. I've even heard of similar experiences through various people who have tried to use their services.
I hate posting this as I don't want to harm any potential adoption of the rescues that are offer but anyone who tries to adopt through their service all I can say is, good luck and keep your options open.
