Almost twelve years ago, I contacted Sue at the rescue to inquire about a blonde-colored, 14 pound "Chiweenie" I had been watching online called "Chi Chi." This sweet four-year-old became my devoted companion since January 2006 after Sue inspected my home, yard, (and me) and gave a green light. I can still remember vividly when this darling dog stepped into my living room and began sniffing around. I renamed this dear heart, "Sugar Cookie," and am so grateful she came into my life. What love and devotion she has brought me over the years. Subsequently, in March 2014, I brought home a six pound sandy-haired male Chihuahua who I fell in love with on site. I extended his original rescue name of Lucky to "Bubba Lucky" and he often sits on my shoulder like a parrot as Sugar Cookie lies by my side. Thank you to Sue and all the staff for allowing me to have these two grace my daily world. I am eternally grateful and think highly of this rescue organization. Kay Nash, Colorado Springs
We are so happy with this rescue and are so glad to have Hope (Charlotte Hope) as part of our family! Thank you!
Not sure what I can say that has not already been said. This is an outstanding organization. I have adopted 2 chihuahuas from them and I will never go to another rescue group to adopt. It was totally amazing how two dogs adopted at to different times and were in two different foster homes and they immediately got along. The foster homes are the best, the high standards that they all have is just out of the world.
When it is time for another chihuahua I will go anywhere else but here.
I have adopted several small dogs from this organization and I have never had a single issue with them. They all go overboard to make sure everything is right, and that the dog is the perfect fit for you.
A great organization, I have adopted 2 dogs from here. The first one went really smoothly. The second one was a very popular dog and because they don't do first come first serve, the process took longer. I am totally ok with that, because this group makes sure that the dog is going to the best home for that dog. If I was not the family for my second dog, I know they would have guided me to the perfect dog for me. The group is all about the dogs and the proper placement of the dogs.
I've had such positive experiences with Chihuahua and Small Dog rescue. My favorite part is how they get to know the pups and help you pick one that fits with what you most want (cuddles, playful, outdoorsy, etc.) I have adopted three chihuahuas from them and they are all perfect and wonderful. I feel so lucky to have found this organization.
After we lost our beloved Zeke in December after 13 years, I just could not get over the loss. After some talking with a friend and reviewing this site, the contact between the chair person, my interviewer and the foster mom of my new BFF, I could not have asked for a better loving friend. While he doesn't replace Zeke, he has given me the chance to love yet another animal just as much. I would love to adopt another and I will when the time is right for my family. Thank you so much Chihuahua & Small Dog Rescue for taking such good of our new little family member before he came to be our new little man!
I adopted a dog from Chihuahua Small Dog Rescue. They took very good care of her and got her healthy before putting her up for adoption. Her foster mom helped after I adopted her with a few things too. You can tell that the volunteers have a passion for their mission and really love the dogs in their care!
My parents adopted a dog from the Chihuahua and Small Dog resuce, and we have adopted two. The people are amazing and they put their full hear and soul into what they do. They are truly amazing people giving of their time, home, money and other resources. They also take precious and careful time in fitting a dog with a new home to make sure the fit is best for everyone involved.
I was looking to adopt a small dog and contacted the chihuahua & small dog rescue inc. This lovely lady came over to my home and interviewed me and showed me pictures of the available dogs for adoption. my husband and I were planning on buying a home in a few months and this was no problem for the rescue place. They waited till we were ready and finaly the day came. We drove to see some foster dogs and fell inlove with debbie. she is just a joy and we couldnt be happier with her. I became friends with the lady that interviewed me so all in all it was a wonderful exprience for me.
After losing a beloved pet, we started looking at various rescue groups in the Denver area to use to find our next pup. The Chihuahua and Small Dog Rescue Group impressed us first with their easy to review web site.
When we located a dog we were interested in, we wrote an email to inquire more information and then went to meet at local pet store during one of their adoption drives.
The staff was so passionate and kind with the treatment and presentation of the dogs, and their adoption process is very thorough to include not only a number of quaification questions, but also a home visit by one of the volunteers.
Once we "passed" all tests we were able to go pick up our new addition. That was 3 years ago, and she is such a perfect addition to our lives. The rescue group has stayed in contact with us; in fact, we go to their adoption drives from time-to-time so they can see Pammie, our newest family member and how well she is doing.
The Chihuahhua and Small Dog Rescue group is just that - they are a small group - but like most small dogs, they have an ENORMOUS heart and great passion for the work they do.
They deserve the support and attention this could bring to them, so thank you for this opportunity!
