Working with APCH has been such a joy. I absolutely recommend APCH for volunteer activities whether you are looking to get involved as an individual or host a company outing, APCH is the place to be!
A Place Called Home is an organization that reaches out with both heart and hands to connect to and serve its neighbors. Even though I live across the country from Los Angeles, APCH has allowed me to become a part of an integrated community that respects and understands the needs of the people it serves. I get a regular glimpse into the many day-to-day activities of the staff and students through the regular communications they send. The highlights of their many programs, activities, student work and achievements, show me that even my small donation is supporting a community about which I care deeply. As a member of the Social Change Club, I see first-hand the work that brings together people from all parts of the city (and beyond!) to participate in the work of the group. When I had the opportunity to visit APCH, I felt even more connected. From the person who greeted me at the front door, to the workers in the cafeteria, to the program directors who eagerly introduced me to their work and their students, everyone shared warmly and openly the sense that we are all in this together. APCH feels like family, and I get far more from my connection with APCH than I could ever give.
I’m a musician who wants his story told and challenges the thoughts of life, artistically reaching out to these children to help express themselves is something I find most honorable. I’ve expressed how I feel through music. Every key and chord knows my pain. Love the past or make the kids happy. I feel better reaching out to share. It’s a world of hurt in the ghettos and burbs alike but the places we meet may be the same, and we might not know anyone’s story the way we should. So hold your loved and learn lessons for yourself.
An amazing organization that is worthy of ongoing support. I feel connected to the services A Place Called Home offers.
Although I have limited opportunities to interact with this organization, the fundraising events that I have been able to attend have been really well organized and the silent auction items have always been awesome.
We had the pleasure of adopting a family for Christmas. Instead of buying gifts for each other my entire immediate family agreed on donating to a better cause, making a family in need happy. So to anyone reading this message next time you are purchasing something, please ask yourself if you need it or want it.
Adopt a family!
I had the wonderful opportunity to visit with my teenage son. The facility was very organized and orderly, however what impacted us most was the passion and commitment of the staff and the obvious joy that was experience on a daily basis by all who entered!
I am constantly impressed with the dedication A Place Called Home provides to the youth of South Central Los Angeles. This incredible organization not only provides an amazing facility for the youth of South Central but also a caring and loving staff to mentor and serve as role models for these kids future. Anyone looking to donate there time or money cannot go wrong with APCH.
I had an opportunity to visit A Place Called Home and I was just amazed the organization, energy, and the compassion these people have by serving their community. From the academic support, music development, and to outdoor team sports, A Place Called Home has done an outstanding job instilling confidence and joy to all that have come to A Place Called Home! Bravo!
Through a friend on the board, I was invited to a fundraising event for this organization and have to say that I was incredibly impressed. The music and art that the kids produced for the event were spectacular, and their energy and commitment were inspiring. APCH is an incredible organization that clearly changes lives on a daily basis and I am happy to be even a small part of what they do.
