I found this amazing rescue when we decided to add another dog to our family. They were amazing to work with. They had many different dogs to choose from and they took the time to properly screen us and our lifestyle to make sure the dog we chose would be a good fit and find their forever home. I appreciate the fact that my little Mayhem(formerly known as Dixon) had all his shots and was already neutered. The adoption process was very easy to navigate and we couldn't be happier to have Mayhem in our lives. When our two senior chis cross the rainbow bridge we will definitely use this rescue again. I admire the great lengths the volunteers go through to pull chihuahuas out of high kill rescues and find them living homes. They go above and beyond to make sure these babies are taken care of and their commitment to their rescue is one of the things I love the most about them. If we had more rescues like this, so many more dogs would be in homes. This rescue definitely deserves recognition for all that they do.
When I went to meet the wonderful dogs up for adoption I didn't know how I would choose and then when I saw a tiny little girl named Cara (my name is Kara) looking at me I knew I had to have her! We had the same name, it had to be some sort of sign. Cara (now Belle) will be a year in February and she has been the best addition to our family, I can't wait to adopt from them again!
I came across Texas Chihuahua Rescue while donating to a local charity. TCR is an amazing charity, great people taking care of these little dogs. They work endlessly to help these precious dogs. All of their fur babies are well cared for. I foster and have adopted 4 of my 7 little Chihuahua’s. Special thanks to Catherine and Tamie for all the hard work and dedication.
I became a foster Mom for Texas Chihuahua Rescue about 2 and half year now. I’ve always loved animals specially dogs. I’ve always bonded with them; they seem to know I love them and understand them. I am a foster failure (lol). I have adopted 4 of my 7 babies through Texas Chihuahua Rescue. My fur babies have changed my life. I never bored or lonely, they keep me busy and I adore all my babies. I am very impressed with TCR they go beyond in helping these babies find a loving good home.
We adopted our baby, Edgar from TCR and we couldn't be happier. He is the most loving, sweet, and precious puppy we have ever met. We are so lucky to have him in our lives - he makes us so happy. We would recommend Texas Chihuahua Rescue to anyone looking for a new, furry family member!
Every dog that was brought up looked incredibly healthy and well-cared for. We took Edgar to the vet when we got home and he was completely healthy and up-to-date on vaccines, etc. Texas Chihuahua Rescue & God's Dogs Transport takes amazing care of these little guys.
Thank you to Rose, Sundee, Catherine, and everyone else involved in the process!
This rescue was amazing, responsive and helpful. They were amazing every step of the way and made us feel so happy and confident about our choice to adopt. Our fur baby was super well cared for by them and they helped us with all of our questions :) I would recommend them to anyone
i saw a pic of this little guy on your website when he was only 2 weeks old. It was love at first sight! We had to wait 10 weeks to get our hands on him. He is happy, healthy and enjoying his forever home almost as much as we are enjoying him!
WOW what an amazing organization. From the beginning to the end we were very impressed with all. I would like to give a huge shout out to the AMAZING ladies in the transport van. You are truly doing a wonderful thing for these little souls.
Thank you from our entire family for blessing us with our Milton and Cooper
What a wonderful group of people taking care of these little guys. We've adopted on 3 occasions, all a great and smooth experience - and of course wonderful additions to our family. Thank you.
Texas Chihuahua Rescue gave us an amazing experience when Adopting little baby Odin (aka Prince). The volunteers truly are a blessing in answering all our questions and concerns as new dog owners. They were always there in every step of the adoption process and still provides support even to today with baby Odin. Thank you so much for all you've done!
I love fostering for Texas Chihuahua Rescue because it is the most caring wonderful rescue I have been involved with in my 40+ years of doing rescue. They are very organized and concerned about these babies get the complete vetting and care they need before they are placed in approved homes that will be their forever homes. I adopted my Daisy Mae from them after fostering her and her mom and she is a wonderful addition to my little zoo of rescued chihuahuas . She is a breath of fresh air watching her grow up as my others are a bit older abused rescues . Thank you Texas Chihuahua Rescue for letting me be part of your group.
Had several people maybe 4 help me adopt Chelsea, age 2 fawn Papillon. I searched for 9mos. This is a God story. I responded to a lady's add who wanted to give her own dog up for adoption during a time of distress in her life. I prayed and told her she was not going to do this. She thanked me and said, she didn't know how, but she was going to help me find my dog. She also had 30 years experience with this breed, raising and training them. Because she was a member of the Texas Chihuahua Club she had an inside with this rescue to find my dog. I sent her photos of my prior pet who died 2.5 yrs. ago. She found the same smiley face as my dog in this beautiful, intelligent and peaceful dog which is what her represents as people with this name are often described as this. I prayed and asked God for her real name..which I got in prayer that eve. I saw a flash of her coming down my portal from heaven to earth.8/2/15 when Dad died as I asked for my next dog..nearly a year later..The day I cried out to God, that hope deferred makes a heart sick and demanded I have my dog today! That others had found their dog and He was no respecter of persons. That is when this lady from Mansfield contacted me and sent my photos of Chelsea (they had called her Lily). When I looked up Chelsea the meaning is port or seaport and is an Anglo Saxon derivation. ( my portal).. Pretty cool..huh! Everyone I dealt with had such heart and warmth and protected her from being adopted by the wrong person. Tammy brought her half way to me in Temple, TX. half way to San Antonio from Plano, TX. Everyone acted very responsibly, She was totally vetted. I got all the paper work and her rabies and ID tags and shot records for $155 I think. I spent probably up to $400 getting her crate, her bed, leash, harness (got easy care one..that keeps dog from dragging it's owner..highly recommend from PetLand $29.99..Trust me.. as this dog likes to chase rabbits. ) Fromm's chicken and veggie dog food, toy stuffed that squeaks from WAlmart, Oster shampoo with coconut oil, etc. cow's ears to chew on, tartar control toothpaste and learned how to brush her teeth, special wire self-cleaning brush that press a button and fir comes right off the bristles $13 at Petland. My backyard turned in to Ft. Knox to keep her from gong under any rabbit holes.
I have to watch her like a hawk so she doesn't fly out the door. I make sure she walks and runs every day for 2-2.5 miles. Then she is happy to lie down and rest inside later on.
She is totally house broken and never once made a mistake in my home. God bless all of you for all you do.
Emmi Grace was heartworm positive long hair chihuahua with no will to live until she became a part of our family. Thanks to Texas Chihuahua Rescue for giving her a chance to find us! We are in love and so grateful for all these wonderful volunteers do!! It is HARD work!!!!thank you all
Please adopt and rescue- don't buy from breeders
What a great experience! All the volunteers here are super kind, knowledgable and make there selves available. My puppy had to have surgery shortly after I adopted him and not only did this organization cover the cost, but they also kept him over night the day before in order to take him to his appointment since I had to work. This is an amazing organization with great people and they wonderful work for all the dogs. What a blessing.
We adopted Mercey from Texas Chihuahua Rescue, it will be a year this July, this is an amazing rescue, they flew Mercy to us, in Ontario Canada. We re-named Mercy, Moxy and there has been a huge love affare with Texas Chihuahua Rescue and our little chi ever since.
The team in Texas are amazing and will move heaven and earth to help each "lost chi" or honorary chi, to a home. The commitment of this Texas Team knows no bounds! Much LOVE
Stand behind the dogs 100% Fully vetted and in most cases, even housebroken! Good mannered dogs that just need a home. Thanks for taking such good care of these dogs until they get adopted. The foster care and vet care is second to none. Highly recommend.
The most amazing rescue out there. The volunteers truly care. The two little doggy girls that we adopted from them have made such a positive impact on our (human) lives. Every day I look at these little fur-kids and feel blessed to have them in our lives. The rescue saves lives and does not give up on dogs just because the dog is a difficult case. I cannot say enough good things about this rescue.
Tyler is the latest addition to our family and arrived in Hamilton, Ontario via the Canadian chapter of Texas Chihuahua Rescue. The volunteers on both sides of the border are amazing. Every story is heartbreaking but these organizations make happy endings possible on a daily basis. Tyler needed knee surgery while in foster care in Canada and the US based group covered the cost. Thanks to the intervention of Texas Chihuahua Rescue, hundreds of these loveable dogs are rescued, receive the necessary medical treatment, fostered and eventually re-homed. We are foster fails and Tyler was a gift to my husband for our 40th wedding anniversary. The traditional gift is ruby but I think it should be replaced by chihuahua.
Love is a four-legged word. Kindness counts.
I recently started fostering for this wonderful organization around October. So far I have been a foster fail bc I fall in love so easy with these precious babies. I have adopted one and so has my mom. I can't say enough wonderful things about Tamie considering these babies are her world. She works tirelessly and will not turn away a chi in need. I mostly admire her for taking on the challenge of the chis who need a little extra TLC. Thank you for serving as an advocate for these little ones and being their voice when no one else will listen.
This is a rescue group with small dogs and large hearts.
My connection with the group is a new one. I am so impressed. Our next dog will come from within their loved and cared for "babies".
To meet the group is to love them and have faith in all their generous efforts.
I have adopted and foster through Texas Chihuahua Rescue . This truly is a RESCUE. TXCR takes in special needs dogs, senior dogs , and nursing mothers. This group rescues the most euthanized breed of dog in south Texas. The works of this rescue are tireless, humbling , and encouraging . The dogs get the absolute best veterinarian care and are so loved with this group. They go above and beyond for these pups. Texas Chihuahua Rescue has changed my life and I am forever grateful.
