Causes: Civil Rights, Women, Womens Rights
Mission: Furthering and advancing the mission of the ywca. Uniting local associations into an effective, continuing and growing organization for the fulfillment of the mission and aiding in the growth of the ywca.
Programs: Capacity building the region works to build capacity of local associations to fulfill the ywca mission and create community impacts to address racial justice and womens economic empowerment. Conducted onsite training for 12 associations on racial justice and womens economic empowerment helping them develop a logic model and following up to provide support toward implementation. Provided additional racial justice and womens economic empowerment consultation as needed. Delivered a four part mission 101 training via webinar four times and one part trainings on racial justice 6 times and womens economic empowerment 6 times. Provided a monthly racial justice affinity group and a bi-monthly womens economic empowerment affinity group. Developed an action of mission process and delivered it live to ywcas in each of the five states in the region. As part of the process, states identified an area of focus and developed an action plan to do the work. Delivered a four part webinar series on facility financing and a just in time board orientation webinar. A two day leadership academy
peer review each association participates in the peer review process once every five years by having an onsite peer review and by providing a peer reviewer to assist in the peer review of another association. Peer review is lead by the glas peer review coordinator who schedules, conducts, reports back, and helps associations develop action plans to address non compliance issues.
advocacy/appropriations the region retains the services of a firm, mcallister and quinn, in washington, dc to work with associations to identify potential funding sources, help them get additional information from federal funding agencies, set up appointments for associations with congressional offices and go with them on the appointments, and write grants for them with the services of the firms professional grant writers.
