Mission: Youth Organizations Umbrella, Inc.(Y.O.U.) is a youth service agency. We reach out to young people ages 10 to 18 and their families in response to their needs for support, guidance and advocacy. It is our goal that all youth acquire the skills, self-confidence and opportunity to participate fully, freely and responsibly in the life of the community. Since 1971, Y.O.U. has responded to the ever-changing needs of youth on the margins of society.
Results: Academic Success 69% of youth who participated in our mentorship and afterschool programs increased their GPAs. Social and Emotional Success 88% of youth who actively participated in our mentorship and afterschool program enhanced their social skills.* Family Success 92% of youth who actively participated in our mentorship and afterschool programs exhibited an improvement in the relationship with their family." *According to pre- and post-evaluations using a nationally renowned assessment tool called the Youth Assessment and Screening Instrument.
Target demographics: Youth in elementary, middle and high school and their families.
Direct beneficiaries per year: Each year we serve over 1,000 youth and touch more than 4,000 family members with a holistic set of services.
Geographic areas served: Evanston, Skokie and the greater community.
Programs: Free academic enrichment, mentoring, clinical counseling, parental engagement and more.
