Causes: Philanthropy, Private Operating Foundations
Programs: Wordsmiths conducted its creative writing program during 2017. Students worked on writing skills (including fiction, journalism, poetry and drama) and participated in state and national writing contests. Two scholarships of $3,000 and one scholarship of $2,000 were awarded by the organization in 2017. Also, a writing contest for birmingham city students was held, and six scholarships totaling $1,025 were awarded to the winners.
