Mission: Wild bear mountain ecology center is boulder county's non-profit nature center connectng all ages to ecosystems of the mountain region. We have been the inspiration that has encouraged tens of thousands of people to creatively and longingly engage with the natural world through educational nature experiences since 1995. We are key partners in the preservation of mud lake open space, and in 2000 we organized the community to make it into one of the healthiest wetland habitats in boulder county.
Programs: During the year, the organization reached 25,000 people of all ages at our nature center as well as the following: -after school/out of school programs and summer camps engaged a total of 3,407 school-age children with 53% on scholarship. -during the school year, 271 preschool age children explored the intersection of art and science at the nature center. -delivered 47 in-school science enrichment programs to 742 k-8 students, including our traveling arthropod zoo and winter ecology on snowshoes. -delivered 47 adult and family workshops to 2,341 people of all ages, including parent/child workshops at mud lake, wild earth day, enchanted forest and other hands-on educational workshops for adults and families.
