I joined this nonprofit when Covid arrived, and the dedication of the staff and the volunteers to ensure the recipients would continue to receive meals was terrific. Every effort was made to protect everyone from Covid. The focus was to prepare the meals and deliver them to clients, never did they close during this entire pandemic.
I have been volunteering with this nonprofit since 2015. The passion that every person associated with this organization is tremendous. The attention to detail in meal preparation, packaging of the meals along with caring delivery to the clients, is outstanding. I am proud to say that I am a part of this nonprofit!
I am the Resident Service Coordinator at an affordable housing senior apartment building in the service area of Westlake MOW's. The staff at the center and the volunteers they recruit are very caring people. We have a unique situation here and they are very accommodating to our needs. If the volunteers feel that something is not right with one of the residents they serve that day they will reach out to one of our staff members if available and let us know. I am very delighted that we are able to utilize this program in our area.
Westlake Meals On Wheels serves nutritious, well-balanced meals (lunch & dinner) to approximately 90 residents Monday-Friday. As a volunteer for many years, I can attest to the quality of the meals, the cleanliness of the kitchen, and the professionalism of the staff.
My kids and I have been volunteering with Westlake Meals on Wheels since 2020 when we were searching for a safe way to give back to our community during the pandemic. The relationships our family has developed with these sweet clients has been amazing and I'm so grateful for our involvement.
Westlake MOW changes lives - whether it’s the lives of our recipients, the lives of our volunteers or the lives of our staff. I started volunteering as a driver at the onset of the COVID pandemic and have since transitioned to a member of the kitchen team. I know we are making a difference in the lives of our recipients by providing delicious, house made, nutritious meals while also creating an opportunity for a little social interaction as well as a wellness check. The less obvious difference is the enrichment and satisfaction we also provide our volunteers. Helping others “feeds” our souls. I am proud of the food we are providing our recipients and have made some great friends while doing it. I am so happy to be a part of this organization. The satisfaction I get from doing the work I do has changed me.
I deliver for Meals on Wheels and firsthand see the difference they make in so many people’s lives! Everyone gives of themself, & works so hard to bring delicious, healthy food to our community, while also bringing smiles, love & time❤️ I know our recipients love and appreciate Meals on Wheels, but the truth is we get so much more by being a part of this organization.
We joined Meals on Wheels about 5 years ago and look forward to our weekly delivery route. The organization runs so smoothly thanks to our director and her staff. The kitchen chefs prepare thoughtful and delicious lunches and dinners. Our recipients are always grateful for the meals and constantly tell us how delicious they are. We’ve never had a day delivering that we aren’t thankful for. For some of the people we deliver to, we are the only social interaction they have that day. It’s always a rewarding experience for us!
During the short time I've been affiliated with Meals on Wheels in Westlake, Ohio I can see the passion and love that goes into every meal we serve. The administrative staff, kitchen volunteers and all the drivers give of their own free time to help those in the community receive a hot and delicious meal served with a friendly smile. These people are truly God's servants. I'm proud to help with MOW whenever I can as I know it truly makes a difference.
It's all the little things that make Westlake Meals on Wheels so special! Delivering fresh, nutritious and delicious meals that allow seniors to maintain their independence is only the beginning. Caring, dedicated volunteers are the heart and soul of the organization and know how to bring a smile to the faces of our recipients. Handmade afghans, holiday surprises, free pantry and frozen items, health & hygiene care packages, and birthday cards are just a few examples of the way the proactive leadership goes above and beyond to help serve the community. Westlake Meals on Wheels truly makes a difference by caring for the overall well-being of their recipients.
Have volunteered here for 4 years. Enjoy making the new friendships with other volunteers, preparing meals and baking for neighbors in need. Everyone associated with this organization is so friendly and caring they make you feel like family immediately!
Working at Westlake Meals on Wheels gives me the satisfaction that we are helping seniors live a healthy life......with maybe that extra smile of content each day.
I am involved in multiple volunteer activities as a retiree—Meals on Wheels is my hands-down favorite. It’s an opportunity to provide one-on-one contact with an individual who may not see another person all day. Imagine being able to bring relief from hunger and loneliness—food and human contact are very basic needs. As the caregiver for an elderly father, I can appreciate someone checking in on my loved one and providing 2 meals for the day. I am always sure to ask how things are going today—I provide feedback of any issues back to the Meals on Wheels staff. As part of the MOW delivery team, it’s an opportunity to volunteer jointly with my spouse—driver and deliverer! By the way, my 91 year old dad was so impressed with the Meals on Wheels mission, he has made donations to fund this very important role in our community. It’s a great opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life; one visit at a time.
As a volunteer delivering meals, I see first hand the positive impact Meals on Wheels has on the people we serve. The recipients not only receive nutritious meals but a friendly face to check up on them. I am proud and humbled to volunteer for such a wonderful organization.
I refer often to Westlake Meals on Wheels as part of my job. I find their commitment to their mission to be strong. The food is very tasty and the daily face contact with volunteers adds social interaction to the days of many lonely seniors. They are also quick to notice problems and seek help with solutions.
I originally came to Meals on Wheels as a cook. I am a professionally trained chef, and was looking for a way to use my skills in my community. I was amazed at the number of people that volunteer their time to this organization. Everyday individuals show up to help residents who cannot cook for themselves get a nutritious and delicious meal. It’s such an important mission, since many of these people won’t have contact with anyone else other than their Meals on Wheels driver. Safety and nutrition for those that are homebound.
