Mission: The wny peace center provides people in wny with opportunities to learn about and act constructively on a variety of issues related to peace, human rights, and social justice, while simultaneously working towards violence prevention in the wny area.
Programs: Facilitation of workshops (e. G. Peacejam, nonviolence, advocacy, etc. ) the wny peace center offers numerous workshops including communication, cooperation, nonviolence, diversity and social justice. Workshops were provided to adolescents and adults at community centers, in schools, and at the erie county secured youth detention facility.
camp peaceprints- a collaborative alternative summer camp for youth aged 8 to 13 years, where they learn about social and environmental justice, and are exposed to techniques of nonviolence and peaceful conflict resolution. Youth assistants ages 14 and up also learn a lot. Many of the youth served by the wny peace center over the two-week period were more vulnerable - oppressed, refugees, etc. - with some considered at-risk of committing violence.
