Causes: Health
Mission: The organization was organized to support the jefferson parish hospital district no. 1, state of louisiana d/b/a west jefferson medical center, including, for such purposes (a) accepting grant funds for programs including neuroscience, cardiac, children's and other, (b) accepting donations from events in support of cancer care and other illnesses, (c) accepting cash and equipment from donors in the community, and/or (d) making distributions to west jefferson medical center or to any other organization that qualifies as an exempt organization under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code, or the corresponding section(s) of the federal tax code.
Programs: Mammography screening: the mammography screening program provides funds for patients at a percentage of poverty level who otherwise would not seek out and/or have recommended mammogram screening. The number of patients assisted in 2014 was 530. In addition, the lymphedema program supports patients following breast cancer surgery with lymph swelling who otherwise would not be able to purchase appliances to assist with minimizing, reducing or otherwise removing sometimes painful swelling predisposing them to other bodily concerns.
cancer fund: this fund primarily conducts cancer support groups and the pink tea annual event to raise awareness and celebrate survivorship.
miscellaneous programs: care house, employee benevolent fund, alzheimer's fund, etc.
west jefferson medical center: for the continued support of west jefferson medical center.
