Causes: Education, Literacy, Remedial Reading & Encouragement
Mission: The primary purpose of the organization is to promote community development and revitalization, develop programs in education, health care, job training, recreation, human enrichment, sponsor a child development center, provide ged curriculum training and community education programs, and provide substance abuse programs for the community.
Programs: Youth initiatives - sponsored a church basketball league, 34 teams participated across the city of durham, ages seven - eighteen, having 12 youth (male and females) per/team. Over 408 children and 40 adults. The program included mentoring and community service.
community scholarsreading room: developed to provide 25 to 30 students a reading room which is used from august june during the regular school year to provide homework assistance, enrichment, cultural development/enrichment and leadership. Camp calvary: provide a coed day camp which enhances the academic, social and healthful living development of youth ages six to twelve years. The primary focus is to continue the academic learning (mathematics, technology, critical thinking, reasoning and a strong emphasis in reading) of students through the summer so that they do not fall behind in school upon returning in the fall.
