I am writing to express my concerns about the current conditions and management at the facility. The well of Mercy there are several issues that need to be addressed:
There is a noticeable lack of respect among the residents. The way women talk about each other is derogatory and demeaning. This has created a hostile and uncomfortable environment. Many residents do not take responsibility for cleaning up after themselves, which has resulted in unsanitary conditions in shared spaces. The facility manager, Mary, has been consistently rude and dismissive. She often speaks to the residents in a condescending manner, treating us as if we are children or beneath her. Additionally, she displays favoritism, selectively helping certain individuals while neglecting others. This has led to a feeling of unfairness and manipulation among the residents. There have been instances where Mary has given unclear instructions or failed to communicate expectations effectively. When residents forget or misunderstand these instructions, she responds with unnecessary harshness.Management practices at the facility, particularly involving the social worker Mary G and the manager Mary.Mary G could significantly improve if she consistently stood up for what is right. She often provides positive feedback and support during our private conversations. However, when the manager Mary is present, she seems to forget our discussions and the progress I have made, appearing very inconsistent and wishy-washy. There have been instances where the guidance provided by Mary G and the management's expectations are conflicting. For example, I was advised to focus on my education before seeking employment. Despite this, I was pressured to find a job before completing my educational goals. When I explained my learning disability and the difficulty I have focusing on multiple tasks simultaneously, it was not adequately considered.Mary G informed me that, because the shelter is not government-funded, Mary can impose her own rules without oversight. This creates an environment where residents must be constantly vigilant about their actions, fearing eviction over minor infractions, such as forgetting to sign the chore board. These issues are causing significant stress and instability for the residents. In our last meeting, Mary G mentioned that she would not argue with the manager Mary about my situation, even though she acknowledged that I was diligently following instructions and making a genuine effort to comply with all requirements. This lack of advocacy is disheartening and undermines the support residents need.It is essential that management practices are fair and supportive, taking into account individual needs and circumstances.Upon moving to The Will of Mercy residence, I was informed that I would need to turn in my LINK card (food stamps) as a form of rent payment. Initially, I was told the rent would be $350; however, they have been taking the entire $800 worth of EBT(food stamps) benefits instead. Additionally, everyone in the house has been using the cards, despite each card being labeled with the cardholder’s name and personal PIN number. This practice seems inappropriate and contrary to the guidelines provided when we applied for government assistance, which explicitly stated that we should not allow others to use our cards or share our PINs.
Would you like any further adjustments to this version? These issues are significantly affecting the overall atmosphere and wellbeing of the residents. I hope that these concerns can be addressed promptly to improve the living conditions and management practices at the facility. We were subjected to unsanitary living conditions, which were well known to the responsible parties but were never addressed despite their awareness
