Mission: Wef continues to provide positive change to extremely disadvantaged children residing in ethiopia and foster goodwill and hope among poor ethiopian families. Our grass root campaign is an attempt to challenge every ethiopian residing in the usa to help those that are less fortunate in ethiopia. Wef strives to forge a long-lasting partnership between these two groups.
Programs: Wegene continued to provide the families it supports with food, rent, school supplies, and school tuition. Donated/new clothing and shoes were also sent to the families. Again, this year more students graduated from high school. And all passed the national exam, which allows them to attend government owned university and collages. Now we have more than twelve students already at college level. Five students graduated from college (nursing, law, psychology, jauranalizm and accounting) two of them are currently employed and three are actively looking for jobs. Still have five students attending private boarding schools. We continue to send kids with high potentials to private schools to help them reach their highest potential. Our learning/knowledge center, where we provide tutoring for the students, has been a big success and continues to give the service.
every year wegene sends laptops to students who just finished high school and heading to colleges. We also provide them with start up money, new clothing and supplies such as blankets and sheets needed in college.
the knowledge center that was openned in 2015 is actively hiring tutors to help the students after school and on the weekends. More supplies such as computers, printers and other electronic devices have been purchased to keep the students upto date on technology and education.
once a year, wegene feeds the homeless here in the us.
