We Are The Next

Programs: Youth civic engagement programs: programs and after-school workshops taught by teachers, teachers in training, and/or professionals for youth ages 13 and older. These enrichment programs are designed to provide civic engagement and cultural education for young adults, focusing on enhancing participants' understanding of the cities that they live in and their ability to positively influence their community into adulthood.

interactive installations: interpretive installations created and installed by we are the next in collaboration with community partners. These installations allow pedestrians to engage with the places that surround them and to foster an increased understanding of local communities, cultural history, and important places.

building renovations to transform vacant buildings into spaces for youth learning: renovations in which we are the next staff collaborated with private property owners in order to transform underutilized or vacant properties into 'learning labs' for young adults and members of the greater community. Activities include overseeing construction work on these places, conducting historical and community-based research, informing the community about project plans and activities, and exposing members of the community to the site for learning and enrichment purposes.

community engagement programs: workshops and events led by professionals and members of the community for local residents of all ages. These workshops are made up of activities which are designed to highlight the various aspects of the communities we serve that contribute to their cultural vibrancy. Activities include walking tours, bicycle tours, meet-and-greets with local business owners and community leaders, and other activities of similar nature.
