Mission: Wallace mobile healthcare, inc provides free medical, dental and eye care to underprivileged residents of east tennessee who are unable to acquire and maintain health insurance. The organization focuses on providing basic medical care for common illnesses, screening for hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, lung disease, breast and prostate cancer. The organization also provides free dental exams and extractions and free reading glasses, eye examinations and prescription eyeware. Preventive education and maintenance are emphasized in areas such as nutrition, smoking cessation and breast cancer awareness.
Programs: In 2017 wallace mobile healthcare, inc provided free medical, dental and vision care to residents of knox county, tn who were unable to obtain health insurance or were unable to afford basic healthcare services because of unemployment, chronic illness, and other extenuating circumstances. The organization hosted 17 free medical clinics in 9 clinic sites. Over 450 patients received free care during the year including medical examinations and medication for acute and chronic illness, prescription eyewear and non prescription reading glasses, dental consultation and extractions. Medical care included screening for diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, eye disease, breast cancer, prostate cancer, asthma and copd. Medical care was directed by a team of volunteer physicians and midlevel providers. Patients received thousands of dollars of medication at no cost. Chronic disease processes were monitored and treated in continuity clinics held monthly across knox county. Dental consultations and free extractions were provided to over 100 patients. Free diagnostic services including bloodwork and x-rays were provided to supplement the care provided in the clinic setting. Wallace mobile healthcare was successful in obtaining assistance from pharmaceutical companies or other local healthcare partners when patients required care for complicated or special health problems. All services were organized by a small staff of volunteers who receive no payment for their time. Similarly, services were provided at clinic sites by a team of loyal volunteers who donate their time to provide care to those in need.
