My story begins back in 2014 when my wife had an accident that caused me to come off the road to take care of her. She was unable to walk for about 5 1/2 months. I came off the road for about 4 months to take care of my wife. I was the only one bringing in an income. We didn't have any savings to speak of so things got really tight. Some friends of ours had called and asked if they could tell some friends of theirs about our situation. At first I didn't want anyone to know that we were having a hard time. So I swallowed my pride and said yes to letting a few people know what had happened. Someone had mentioned SCF to us and said we should fill out the application. Well we did and SCF had contacted us and said that wanted to help us. SCF really came through when we really needed them. After learning about SCF and what they have done to help so many drivers and their families we want to give back to SCF to show our appreciation for all that they had done for us. So ever since then we have helped at auctions at the truck show in Dallas,Texas and also in Louisville, Kentucky. This is our way of saying thank you and giving back. I am a driver for Heartland Express and decided that I wanted to do more to help SCF. My wife and I had been talking about SCF to a few people at Heartland Express and told them how much they have helped us and so many other drivers that have to come off the road to help with a loved one or because of a health reason that has taken that driver off the road. Heartland Express like that there was an organization that helped truck drivers and their families when they needed a hand up not a hand out. Heartland Express has been donating to SCF for the last 3 years. They have helped raise thousands of dollars for SCF at the silent auctions at the truck shows . I am very proud to say I work for such a great company like Heartland Express they care about their drivers. I am also proud to be a driver ambassador for SCF.
As someone who works at the St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund, I have the privilege of seeing firsthand the impact this organization has on the lives of truck drivers and their families. Every day, we hear stories from hardworking men and women who are facing medical crises, and it's incredibly rewarding to be part of a team that steps in with real help and hope.
SCF is more than just financial assistance—it's a community of support. We take pride in treating every driver with dignity, compassion, and respect, whether it’s helping cover bills during recovery, providing health and wellness programs, or just offering a listening ear.
I'm proud to be part of an organization that stands behind the people who keep America moving. If you're looking for a cause to support—or if you're a driver in need—know that SCF is here with open arms and a genuine desire to help.
the people that work here are true angles I have never been taken care of with such kind hands except by my wife and daughter. they have not just been helping me financially but with kind words and faith which has enabled me to battle with my stage 4 cancer as well as giving us all peace. my wish is that the angles that are donating to the St Christopher fund will see this and understand that they are truly helping, are greatly appreciated, and when I have recovered I intend to help in any way I can, because of the all the support and kindness I am looking forward to being part of this family.
St. Christopher Truckers Fund helped my family while I was out of work with total knee replacement. The process was straightforward and they were extremely helpful throughout the entire process. My wife and I are extremely grateful for this wonderful group.
I decided to submit my application because my husband, who is a truck driver, with than 2 decades of experience in the United States suffered from a venous malformation about a year ago preventing him from working and earning income during his recovery period ever since the incident occurred. A social worker at the hospital recommended this organization to us after I applied for assistance. Upon reviewing our application, Mallory. The worker. Searched for reasons to deny us funding; initially citing that our company was not operational at the time and later raising concerns, about discrimination based on our citizenship status. They mentioned to me that their website says that applicants need to be U.S citizens, which I did not see anywhere in the requirements before applying; otherwise I wouldn't have applied all. I believe we were unfairly treated based on our race and nationality.
I recently celebrated 10 years with the St. Christopher Fund as the Director of Philanthropy. It's an honor and a privilege to support the truck driving community and the men and women behind the wheel that we all depend on every single day. Drivers face hardships and challenges in their choice of career that most of us do not face and the SCF is proud to provide the support they need when they need it most, as well as offer free health and wellness programs that help drivers be as healthy as possible on the road. What a great organization to be a part of!
I have really really enjoyed this non-profit more than anyone could ever imagine. Lyndsey Bryan may have saved my life through this class. I won’t go into everything but before I started this class I was on the road every single day only getting maybe 4 hours of sleep. I finally bought in to the class and decided to give it a shot on what she was teaching. Now I’m sleeping 8 hours a night and everyone from my boss to my family has commented on how much of a difference it’s made. My life is back in order and is no longer a wreck and I couldn be more thankful.
When I found out about St Christopher's I was a heavy smoker and weighed 244 lbs.
I started with the smoking cessation program and haven't had a cigarette in almost a year!
I also am in the Healthy habits class as well as Diabetes Prevention. I have lost almost 20 lbs and am living a much more active lifestyle because of the life saving information I am getting.
I feel better, look better and I'm a much happier person than I was before.
My teacher, Lindsey is always available to help and encourage me on my journey.
St Christopher's helps many drivers when they are critically ill or injured but they also give us the tools we need to prevent illness and lead happy healthy lives.
I'm extremely grateful for Lindsey and all the St Christopher's programs. Happy healthy truck drivers are the backbone of America and we would be lost without St Christopher's to watch over us.
SCF does great work for helping OTR drivers in trying to keep them healthy and helping financially when they are out of work.
Thanks to the St. Christopher Truckers Development & Relief Fund, we were able to keep our water running, electricity on, and vehicles from being repossessed. In June, I had a heart attack while at a truck stop in Indianapolis. I was rushed into emergency surgery at a nearby heart hospital, and my life was saved after multiple flatlines and 4 inserted stents. I am now going through 6 months of cardiac rehab, and am unable to get behind the wheel of a truck. This has caused our financial situation to become very difficult to handle. We were on the verge of losing our vehicles, electricity, water and car insurance. Thanks to the St. Christopher Truckers Fund, we were able to make it through the struggle. May God Bless Them, as He's continued to bless us! Thank Y'all So Much!!
Words cannot describe how much appreciation we have for this nonprofit. My husband having his stroke rocked our whole world we didn’t know where to turn. But this organization was there to help provide resources we need to keep our house hold running…..thank you so much!!
I can never thank you guys enough for helping my family and I. You guys been such a big blessing to us! Thank you St Christopher Truckers!

After multiple failed attempts of finding the right career path in my 20’s, I found trucking in 2013 at age 29. The pros out weighed the cons for a working lifestyle, adventure and non conventional work environment. I immediately felt that trucking was the right choice for me. After my first year over the road, I soon realized that developing bad habits was an everyday occurrence in the trucking industry. The first 365 days I was home maybe once every 2 months with 2 days each time. A total of 12 days the whole year, giving 353 days of bad food choices, and little to no physical activity.
A typical day would consist of waking up and having a Kit Kat candy bar or sleeve of hostess donuts and a Starbucks Frappuccino (glass bottle) for breakfast. Drive for 11 hours snack on Quaker Oats granola bars, trail mix and beef jerky all day. Little to no water consumption, maybe 16 ounces total. The end of the day would consist of whatever fast food option was at the truck stop that night. I did not have a refrigerator or microwave in my truck at all that first year. I went from 5’9 190lbs to 280lbs in one year.
I was fortunate to not have to go over the road for the next 8 years but never changed my habits. Not gaining much weight but not loosing much either.
In 2019, I experienced the most traumatic event I never thought imaginable or possible. It was a Sunday afternoon in November. I was home and went to wake up my 6 month old son from his nap and he never woke up, he had stop breathing at some point in his normal 2 hour afternoon nap. The trauma I endured spun me out of control for the next 3 years. My only coping mechanism I chose was food. Sonic drive thru was my therapy, Burger, fries and a Large shake was my daily dinner meal. Any chance I could to eat ice cream I would, I started hiding it like an alcoholic or drug addict. Fast formed Summer of 2023 I weighed myself randomly and I was at the heaviest I’ve ever been 350lbs.
Road to Recovery
One day while driving listening to Road Dog trucking on XM satellite radio I heard a commercial about St. Christopher’s Trucking Relief Fund. The curiosity struck me and as soon as I stopped driving for the day I went to google and looked up what St. Christopher’s was all about. The section on their website about Healthy Habits and classes for drivers spoke to me like a spiritual experience. I immediately filled out the forms online form to attend a virtual class and the very next day I received a phone call from Lindsey to complete my registration. I had no idea what was about to happen over the course of the next 12 weeks. To my surprise the information given to me was so easy to understand and digest mentally that it sparked a wire in my brain that I didn’t know was still there. Hearing the stories of the struggles that other drivers were going through was the key that unlocked all the motivation for me. I slowly began to have hope and motivation to want to achieve new goals and lifestyle changes for the better. The other piece of all of this was that Lindsey is there via email or text 7 days a week to answer ANY questions that a driver may have. This program is so well put together and the knowledge that Lindsay has is incredible.
They have been very instrumental in helping me pay more attention to my diet/health, instrumental for helping me quitting smoking (well over 30 years), & education on further health issues common with trucking amongst a good support group to improve health. I'm Never good with words but I believe that sums up my experience so far.
I fell I'll and needed help the people at St. Christopher were right there. Thank you so much for the support and care. My family is very grateful and I'm back to grabbing gears and rolling down the highway.
I think this is a wonderful organization. They helped a friend of mine, who is a driver and out of work due to an injury. They paid his rent and utilities which helped him tremendously until he was able to get back to work.
Awesome charity that truly cares about our nation's professional truck drivers. Their support makes a difference for those in need. They are a shining star in the trucking industry and beyond. Keep up the great work, St. Christopher Truckers Relief Fund!
These are wonderful folks who really care about the trucking industry. They are inventive, resourceful, and passionate. They help a vital part of our communities and our national supply chain.
St. Christopher Truckers Fund is a great organization serving an industry that is often overlooked. Their dedication to the trucking and transportation industry is imperative to keeping our economy running smoothly.
They helped my brother when he had to have a leg amputation. He was able to apply and receive help with a vehicle payment in less than a week. What a blessing they were to his family!
I had the privilege of starting my work with the St. Christopher Fund in March 2023. I was nervous about finding something that I was passionate about and ensuring I found an organization that shared my values, but I found that and so much more with SCF. We are a small team doing big things to help support OTR drivers. Behind the scenes, we all work hard to make sure applications are processed quickly and with fairness to each and every application. We advocate for those in need. Thorough consideration is made in expenses to ensure that the funds go where they are most needed - the drivers! And in our office, you'll find that even after a long day, we still have conversations about wishing we could do more. As for those that we're helping, they are the most generous, genuine group of people. Many have helped to support our mission for years without ever giving a thought to the fact that they may one day be the one in need. I'm so grateful to be able to support our OTR drivers with a great team of people who are just as passionate about the work we do.
Our company, Grinds Coffee Pouches, partnered with St. Christopher's "Rigs Without Cigs" program to help bring tobacco and nicotine-free products to Truck Drivers seeking to quit cigarettes and chew. We are proud to partner with this organization that focuses on helping Truck Drivers and their families through this health-promoting initiative among the many other great programs they offer. Their team is dedicated to the success and well-being of each Truck Driver and have and continue to make an impact in their lives.
St. Christopher's Fund is a fabulous organization that helps OTR drivers out with their health & wellness. With many challenges drivers encounter, SCF is able to help when an illness or injury causes them to be off the road for a little. RoadPro Family of Brands is thankful to be a small part in the Rigs without Cigs program in helping drivers become tobacco-free. The close-knit relationships we see with drivers and SCF is special, and many would be lost without the program and accountability.

RoadPro Family of Brands appreciates the efforts that St Christopher Truckers Fund does to help truck families in need when they are out of work. St Christopher's has contributed publication pieces to our Gear Guide before and worked with our community. The organization really cares about truck drivers and helping their families when illness and unexpected expenses come up.
I donated through purchases at truckstops to St. Christopher further various programs over a number of years without ever given much thought about what the organization might mean to me personally. January 2019 I saw an advertisement for their Rigs Without Cigs program, and after trying to quit many times, I decided to try a program. And the support I got from the program was instrumental in me putting away a two pack a day 25 year habit.

My experience with the St Christopher Fund has been a combination of working with them in multiple roles for over a dozen years. Time has provided the opportunity to watch the organization mature into a force for truly improving the lives of professional drivers and the industry in general.
As an industry professional I've developed a strong trust for SCF and seen first hand the demonstrated value in their services to the entire industry.
As a volunteer I've personally invested many hours in the mission of SCF because of the impact made in the lives of drivers.
As a donor both professionally (as an industry professional representing a previous employer) and personally (with my personal funds) I trust donations are used how SCF says they will be used.
SCF has created multiple programs to proactively improve the health and lives of professional drivers with the goal of reducing the number of drivers needing monetary assistance. That's a supportable and commendable strategy in my book.
Driven to be Health, Rigs without Cigs, Diabetes Prevention Program, and vaccinations including Influenza, Shingles, and Pneumonia, all available in locations that trucks can easily access, is proof that the SCF strives be more than just a funding mechanism for drivers needing financial assistance.
These programs are critical to their mission to increase their value to the industry.
When one combines all of the above with consistent high ratings from "Charity Navigator" and other non-profit watchdogs and any concerns a donor may have about donations being absorbed by administrative costs should be put out of mind.
SCF simply makes a difference in a complicated situation unique to each applicant. This, and effective programs to improve the overall health of the professional driver, makes them indispensable in our industry.
I would encourage support for SCF in every role I've been blessed to participate. They are great people doing great things in our trucking industry.
Participating in the Driving Down Diabetes program through Saint Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund Inc. It is helping me understand more about healthy eating, blood sugar, blood pressure & movement and and the role it plays in all aspects of my life.
As a proud supporter of the St. Christopher Fund, Hurricane Express heartedly endorses the mission and outstanding support of the trucking industry made possible by the fund. Our professional truck drivers find support and timely assistance in times of need. As an industry we are able to support those deserving of assistance through the work of this fine organization. We recommend participating in the St. Christopher fund, for any individual or organization considering doing so.
St Christopher has been nothing but helpful to us as we started our small business almost a year ago. Shannon replied very quickly to my emails with nothing but support and kind words. We did a lot of research on them before we considered picking them as our non-profit. I can say that our entire team at Big Rig Coffee Company is happy with that decision. Thank you!

This is a great non-profit with an even better mission to help out truck drivers and their families when they may need it in terms of sickness or illness. St. Christopher Fund also provides resources for health and wellness programs to help drivers stay healthy while on the road.

This program literally saved my life. I had emergency gal bladder removal and due to neglecting my health and avoiding the doctor. I had to be tested for c pap, was morbidly obese with high BP and cholesterol along with atrophied muscles from lack of movement. First I joined rigs without cigs and quit smoking. Then I joined the health challenge and learned so much about my diet and exercise needs and was introduced to Mother Trucker Yoga.
I'm currently in diabetes prevention program with teaching, peer support, weight and BP checks werkly...its amazing!
I have lost a small person since my sugery. I weighed 410 lbs and am now at 341.
SCF does so many other things for drivers as well. When a driver asks for help this non-profit is who I refer most.
If they can't help they will refer you to other programs.
Thank you!
Americans depend on our nation's truck drivers for food, medicine, raw materials, and other essential items. In turn, St. Christoper Truckers Relief Fund provides this very special group of individuals with support that they can depend on when times get tough. SCTRF does incredible work for our drivers and their families, and I am thrilled that my company has been privileged to support their efforts.
We have been blessed by this organization with Flu Vaccine Vouchers over the last 3 years. As self-employed owner operator truck drivers, our healthcare options can be limited. We participate in a Christian faith based healthcare bill sharing program but they do not cover any preventative healthcare. We are so grateful.
They helped me when no one else did at a great time of need. I know of no other trucker organizations that help truckers like they do.
Thank you very much

Has helped me getting my physical conditioning back on track after years of neglect. Would definitely recommend
I joined the Diabetes Prevention Program last year and rejoined again this year. Initially I lost a lot of weight and watched all of my numbers go down. As time has gone by I have continued to loose weight at a slower pace and I have gotten benefits from exercising more. I recommend this program to my fellow truck drivers due to the unhealthy lifestyle we live out here on the road for days, weeks, and months at a time. Our Leader Julie is the absolute best for presenting our classes and being our coach. I am grateful that I am a participant in this program. And at any time I can reach out to Julie and talk to her on the phone! Since I don’t do the Smart Phone. Colette
As an organization with a very specific purpose, we look for other organizations that help in the industry we service - Professional Truck Drivers and Truck Stops. The St. Christopher Truckers Development & Relief Fund has been an outstanding advocate for drivers across the country. AMBEST has supported this organization for many years, and we continue to raise funds for them every year because of the great work they are doing. They are fiscally responsible, spend funds wisely and advocate on behalf of drivers' health and wellbeing. We are proud to support this great nonprofit and hope to continue doing so for many years.
While personally I have not reviews any support from them, I know many that have. I have seen several people receive benefits that were literally days away from loosing their home and/or truck. Unfortunately I know many that have had cancer themselves or their spouse did. SCF stepped in to help that family not only through the bad times with bill support for the obvious but also giving them a person to talk to when they are on the edge of bankruptcy and loss of life at the same time. The good people that run the place are truly one of a kind with a servant’s heart.
I am one of the 1st driver's to be part of this program. I tried to quit many times with no luck. Thanks to this program today I'm smoke free. I never seem to remember my quit date, that's Julie's job. But I'm one of the first successful drivers.driver's. Thanks Rigs Without Cigs.
I have enjoyed a relationship with SCF for many years now. Any medical need or question that I have had is always quickly addressed. This has led me to become an ardent supporter and financial contributor to this organization.
There is no better help for truckers that can be found
Not only do they help truck drivers with medical issues they try to help prevent problems for free they helped me loose weight and get off many medications but the biggest thing was helping me quit smoking a 42 year addiction they are doing great things and need all the support they can get
Back in 2014 just before we moved from California to Florida my wife had a bad accident and could not walk for 5 months and I had to come off the road to take care of her. SCF helped me out by paying some of my bills as I was not getting a paycheck. They are an awesome group for what they do for the drivers and their family. My wife and I help raise money and my company heartland express matches what we raised. It's a honor to help such a awesome charity.
I have been benefiting from their Prevent Diabetes Program. I have learned so much and have been losing weight and building strength while driving my semi truck. Without this program I would probably have been close to taking drugs to prevent full blown Diabetes. My coach Julie is the best along with my fellow participants.
Had open heart surgery was out for months they pitched in to help me and my family financially they were super nice and helpful to me and my family thanks a million once again
We were in dier need of help after I had complete heart failure and after 38 years over the road they truly came through and helped us pay some bills to help us stay afloat ! Great organization! If it wasn't for this organization we would have been homeless and no telling where at ! Thank you!
In 2018 I was diagnosed with uterine cancer. As a truck driver I was not able to continue work during my treatments. Chemo lasted 4 months, radiation was 6 weeks. Plus all the down time for surgery and recuperation. St Christopher's Fund helped me with a substantial donation towards my bills. At the time I found them, no one was helping me but my youngest son. I was calling and emailing many different assistant programs to no avail. St Christopher's Fund kept my house from being foreclosed on. Thank you to those working hard to help the truck drivers. Now I'm involved with a class called Driving Down Diabetes that is helping many of us figure out ways to be healthier despite our unhealthy job.
This is by far one of the best non-profits focused on truck drivers. If you are in need or looking to donate. St. Christopher's Truckers Relief Fund is your stop.
They provided me with support, tools and education through “Rigs without Cigs” and helped me quit a 2 pack a day 205 year cigarette addiction on 7/10/2019
I got sick out on the road. I finally got home and was admitted to the hospital for 5 days. I had double lung pneumonia. I finally got out of the hospital. But I couldn't return to work without a doctor's release. It took months to finally be cleared by my doc.
We didn't have enough money to survive that long. We were about to have our power shut off and water. We needed help.
I had always donated to st. Christopher's fund for years. Well I knew who we needed to call. One call got the ball rolling and within a day or two. They answered our prayers for help. We got the help we needed and then some.
Thank you all for doing what you do! My family and I are living proof that you all give help and compassion when it's needed most. We could never thank you enough. We still donate as much as we can and always will. So you all can keep helping others!

Hi Gary. Thank you for the review. It sounds like you should complete an application for assistance. You can do so at truckersfund.org/application or you can call the office at 865-202-9428. Take care.
My wife has been the Executive Director of this wonderful organization since its inception. It has been her honor to serve a community of selfless individuals when they become the ones that need a hand up. Truck drivers bring us all that we have, all while putting their lives and health on the line. The St. Christopher Fund staff and volunteer Board of Directors all have a heart for truckers and a passion to find ways to help in their time of need, as well as putting health prevention programs in place for them.
Reasons to know the SCF is a great organization:
1. The kindness and caring of the staff and Board
2. The missions: provide assistance when a driver comes out of work due to an illness or injury/provide health and wellness programs for drivers
3. Their guidelines for assistance are strictly adhered to
4. Medical issues are verified by a review of medical records from our volunteer Medical Director
5. No money is given to applicants-instead, bills are paid directly on the drivers' behalf so that we know where every donated dollar has gone
6. Their guidelines and financials are reviewed and verified by annual audits
7. Their operating expenses stay between 25-27%, meaning $0.75-$0.73/donated dollar is available to support drivers.
8. They process ~400 applications/year with a very small staff
I was very familiar with this charity before I was asked to serve on its Board of Directors. It is the only charity of its kind to assist truck drivers who are experiencing financial difficulties due to medical issues. The number of individuals/families who have been helped and and the wide array of medical issues being experienced by recipients is astounding.
Being a former driver (now retired) myself it was very comforting to know that they (SCF) would be there for me if I ever needed them. Fortunately for me, I never needed their assistance.
Our nations' truck drivers keep America stocked with everything we need and we would be in a world of hurt if not for them, which we have seen during the Covid 19 pandemic.
I am very proud to serve the charity in any way that I can.
Thanks to this organization, truck drivers that find themselves out of work and in need of assistance can look for help and receive it. Our association is proud to have worked with them since inception and thankful that it is here for truckers. They are organized, efficient, caring, creative and persistent in their pursuit of ways to provide help to those that give up so much to make sure stores shelves are filled and the economy keeps moving forward.
St. Christopher Truckers Development & Relief Fund is the only charity dedicated 100% to helping truck drivers an their families. As the owner of a trucking company, I wanted to get more involved and in 2012 joined the SCF board of directors, I am currently the president. SCF has a goal to help truck drivers become healthier! We started the rigs without cigs program as well as driving to wellness, to name a few! SCF is amazing, and has a BIG heart for the men and women behind the wheel!
The ones who really are there to help drivers. During periods of injury or illness, even just supportive community or advice they will help when there are no others.
My husband had a stroke on Easter Sunday,he was the only income in our household and I had no idea how we would make it until his short term disability kicked in. A friend of his told me about St Christopher's and they were so kind and helpful, without their help I don't know what we would have done. We had nothing in savings and I was just lost but with their help we made it and they gave many recommendations on other resources as well.
When I was off the truck for 6 months due to a back injury, SCF was there for me, and not just monetarily they truly cared about my well being. It meant a lot.
I battled to quit smoking for years. Thanks to St. Christopher's and the Rigs without Cigs program, I've been smoke-free for almost a year and a half! I couldn't have done it without them.
I also donated during the Band together fund raiser with TA/Petro truck stops. I needed some help with utilities and rent when my back was so bad I had to get medical treatment for 3 months on a regular basis in 2014. They have also helped me with staying healthy after returning to driving with diet and exercise meetings with a coach in a webinar with other drivers in 2017.
Review from Guidestar
I began to work with The St Christopher Fund in August of 2012. I didn't know much about the trucking industry when I started. I have learned so much about the men and women that we serve. The drivers are hard working people who have health issues and temporarily need a helping hand. Helping professional drivers with financial difficulties is a service that is greatly needed. The people at St Christopher Fund truly care about the drivers and their welfare. I am honored to have been a part of this organization and hope it continues to grow so that more drivers can be helped.
I am an owner operator, I donate to st christopher fund during there annual fund drive not thinking i would ever need there help. I got sick in october of 2013. I got an ingrown hair that turned in to major infection causing multi abcesses which had to be surgically removed. the whole process has put me out of work for 6 months. I asked for asssistance in Jan 2014. I have been able to keep my house because of the help i recieved. I cannot thank St. Christopher Fund enough.
