I am a freelance journalist who did a story for the Walk On Foundation one year and I was very pleased. Josh is very professional and knowledgeable. Walk On helps those less fortunate get medical supplies and needs. They way they earn money for the foundation is through a fashion show and other events. The events are low cost but over the top. The fashion show is a low fee and includes a designer, an outfit for the show, a before party, swag bags, chinese auction, and a limo ride among others. Proceeds help those in need of the walk on foundation. They have various events throughout the year and are always very helpful, knowledgeable and professional! Definitely a worthy cause to invest time and money in.

A few years back our family was experiencing a difficult time with some health issues that had also put us in a financial bind. During that time we had to make a trip out of the area and if it weren't for Walk on Foundation; we would not have ben able to make the trip. We are extremely thankful that this organization was willing to reach out and fill in the gaps that we found ourselves in! Keep up the great work; you are a real blessing!

Walk on Foundation help a family of mine receive necessary therapy equipment. We had tried several other avenues and could not find funding. This little boy is now able to use his scooter board for his home therapy program as well as keep up with other kids that run around the house. He is able to use his octa-paddles to help strengthen his core/upper body and manuever around corners. Previously, this child would crawl around or hop around and at 7 yrs of age all he wanted to do was be able to play with his twin brother and friends. Thank you Walk on Foundation for providing joy in this young mans life and giving him the opportunity to play without hurting his body.

I have two children with numerous medical issues, but one of the big one is Dysautonomia. My children struggle with regulating their own body temperature. My daughter has lymphedema and wears compression garments and struggles with excess heat, my son wears AFOs for balance and walking plus a soft positioning sensory vest. For them wearing all of these garments keep them hot and then add in they can't keep themselves cool like needed; makes for a struggle to enforce these items for their health. Neurologist and Pediarician recommended cooling vests; however insurance didn't cover and with all our normal monthly costs I couldn't fit it in the budget adequately. Walk on foundation is blessing my children with the ability to keep cool during the summer, enjoy going to outdoor events.
Thank you Walk on Foundation.

My son was born in August 2015. He was healthy...then he ended up losing weight...and more weight. He went from 7lb 5oz to an even 6lbs by the end of August. He was admitted to Geisinger's Janet Weis Children Hospital the end of August and they were able to help him regain the weight he lost.
Now, October 2015, he is 9lb 13oz and continues to go to Geisinger quite a bit for various appointments.

I currently serve as President so this review is little biased however I want to let the public know the following:

1) We are NEED based not income based. If you have a medical need that insurance will not cover we are here to try and assist.

2) We understand the importance for research funding, clinic trials etc and pray that in the future many diseases such area Cancer, Diabetes and Kidney Disease can be cured. However we are here for the NOW NEEDS. We want to make sure you have what you need now to beat these battles just in case that cure isn't found.

3) Our staff is completely volunteer. No 6 figure incomes here. We want every dollar going towards your medical needs.

4) We have VERY LOW OVERHEAD. We use $80 a year for our website and approximately $600 a year for insurance. Our meeting place is donated, our members pay for their own meals at dinners and our organization phone lines are even member ran and member paid.

5) Our volunteers host quarterly fundraisers to keep our budget increasing. We work hard to find the most cost effective yet reliable items when requested by an applicant. We work with many hotels, pharmacies and companies to keep costs down.

6) We have been honored as a top rated non profit in 3 of past 4 years and have ALL POSITIVE REVIEWS. We strive to do best for our clients in every situation.

7) While we maintain client confidentiality every penny spent and how it was spent can be found on our website under the NEWS section. The public deserves to know where their $ is going

Please share our name so we may share in helping more people.

Kingdom Kidz Inc. has worked along side Walk On Foundation in raising monies for their nonprofit organization. We joined them as Ashley's Angels to help a young lady in our area who needed a double lung transplant because of cystic fibrosis. Walk On Foundation spear headed many fundraisers for Ashley and gave unselfishly of their time and energy to help this young lady. Their volunteers work as a team and think of those in need and how to help them. We have also been involved in other fundraisers with Walk On and it is a joy to work with people who want to help those who have medical needs and can't afford them for one reason or another. Walk On finds a way to help and puts the community needs ahead of their own. This is truly a Great Nonprofit Organization.

This organization helps many with medical needs. It operates with a team of volunteers who have experienced personally or within their family some kind of medical diagnosis. This team continues to have constant fund raisers inorder to fill needs. This foundation is not like nationally supported organizations, so they operate on a relatively small budget, but always impress with the amount of help they are able to extend to those in need. I truly am thankful for each person who supports this awesome organization.

He is smart as a whip, he just isn't able to express himself verbally, and this has been so sad and frustrating for us all, especially him. We needed help purchasing a communication app for his iPad that was just more than we could afford. I came across the Walk On Foundation and was blown away by how open they were to help! I asked the walk on foundation for help with gas to get to his next appt because it was so close to his last appt and very near to the holidays and they stepped right up and help me out with the cost of gas to get my P-nut to his much needed appt. As a family of 5 being soley supported by my husband's job we make it but sometimes we need a little extra help and they (the Walk on Foundation) stepped right up and helped us when we needed it most. Most of my pay goes towards medical bills, medical supplies, insurance premiums, and lots of medicine. It has lead us to such a financial hardship that we are struggling to make ends meet on a regular basis due to fact of traveling back and forth to hospital in DC. The Walk On Foundation gave me a check in amount of $300.00 to go towards our trip that we had this month for his medical care, gas and housing. With myself being disabled, and living on a fixed income ,our hope was to find some monetary help to cover our cost .Little did we expect help to come from a organization ,{that until recently was operating from the home of a director}, as tiny as Walk- On Foundation . All the other national groups gave us the runaround but not Jo-Anna or Josh . They made Marlene fill special and sent us not one , but two grants to help cover our travel cost. Walk On Foundation is there to assist with medical needs, a true blessing to some. My husband was diagnosed on Oct 15th 2011 with a stage 2 cancerous brain stem tumor and spent 8 whole months hospitalized enduring 11 total surgeries and relearning to walk and talk again. He was released home to us on May 29th 2012 needing wheel chair assist and having a trach, feeding tube, and ventilator at nights. This past year he has been getting stronger each day and had got great news that a Specialist in Pittsburgh would like to evaluate him to see if there's hope to get him to swallow since he has gone almost two years with nothing by mouth. Walk on helped us achieve this trip and from that they found if my husband turns his head to the Left and start to swallow and hold that swallow for 3 seconds and then swallow that he was able to swallow his saliva. By phone calls over the next few weeks, this Dr has got my husband to chew ice and swallow using that same technique and the Dr also set up appts for my husband to see a specialist in Reading Pa that is alot closer to us than Pittsburgh but still 2.5 hrs from us to further work with my husband to get him to progress more. Our trips are 3 times a week to these appts and Thank God for Walk On to be there to kindly help make this possible. Truely a blessing to us as we hope one day in the near future that my husband, our four boys, and I will be able to sit down together again and enjoy a meal together. So Much thanks to Walk Om!!!

My son Joey is a bright, happy 3 yr old little boy with a fondness for Thomas the Train, Matchbox Cars, and VeggieTales. He was also born into this world with Complex I Mitochondrial disorder, a fairly rare disease where the cells in his body cannot function properly. This disease causes Joey to suffer from extreme fatigue, overall muscle weakness, swallowing and chewing difficulties, and chroic dehydration. It also attacks his 'autonomic' nervous system--the part of our bodies that automatically regulates things without any input on our part. In particular, he has no ability to regulate his own body heat (it's like not having a thermostat). In the winter, his muscles "seize up" and cause him pain if he gets too cold. And in the summer, even in mildly warm weather, his body will just continue to overheat and he is at constant risk of heat stroke. The winter months were fairly easy to navigate--warm thick clothes for outdoor play, turn the heater up and pile on blankets if things get to0 cold inside. But the warmer months offered weeks where Joey would need to be in our home, with the air-conditioning blasting 24/7, unable to go outside or even ride in the car or do errands, as the sun beating down or high humidity would cause him to overheat, even in an air-conditioned car.

Our son's Geneticist recommended a cooling vest for Joey--a life-saving device that, once activated, would constantly keep Joey cool in the summer, enough where he would be able to enjoy the outdoors and be like a "normal kid" for awhile. She even recommended a "cooling blanket," which acts in much of the same way, that can be draped over Joey in car rides and at night, to further help keep him cool. The particular brand and model she recommended were out of our budget, however, and the insurance did not classify them as a form of Medical Equipment that they would reimburse.

A simple Google Search brought up the "Walk on Foundation," and after a quick emaii to their staff, inquiring if our particular need was something they would consider, I received a prompt response to fill out an application, and attach some form of documentation that verifies the disease he had, and they would address it in their next meeting. Within 48 hours I had received an answer that they would be able to help my son with this life-changing equipment. Even when the particular type of vest I asked for was out of stock, and we had to "upgrade" to another style that cost more money, the organization was quick to ask ME if it was ok if they changed the order, before even going about handling the 'red tape' on their end.

My son lives in a world where the odds are stacked against him everyday. It is such a blessing to know that there are organizations out there like the Walk On Foundation that are willing to make his days just alittle bit easier. I am so excited for the vest to arrive--to take my son out to his little swingset, to chase a ball around the yard, to go for walks again in his little red wagon. This organization has changed my sons life, and I will never, ever forget what they have done for me, and for my little Joey.

I have attended 2 fundraisers for Walk On, so far. I was a vendor at their Christmas Extravaganza and my kids participated in the most recent fashion show. Not only did the fashion show raise money for people in need of help, it made a lot of children happy and gave them an experience they won't soon forget. I have also donated medical equipment and books. I think they do a great service and wish I had more to help them.

The Walk on Foundation is an amazing nonprofit organization! I would recommend this organization to other people in need of medical items. Thank you Josh Richard, the committee, and all the people that donated to help my daughter Abigail have the gift of a voice(Ipad2 w/App). We are so greatful for this. We will never forget that you all had a big part in helping my baby girl speak and making easier for us to know what she needs. --- Rebecca L. Yost

On 11/10/12 I attended a Christmas Extravaganza sponsored by the Walk On Foundation. Let me just say that this group of good hearted men & women put a tremendous amount of work into making sure that all attendees had a wonderful experience, especially the children. This group provides medical services to many needy individuals throughout the year. I am proud to be associated with this group through fundraisers. They are without a doubt a very special group continually doing self-less acts for so many. Keep up the great job Walk On!

I have been involved with Walk On for a few years now and could not be more proud to be associated with such a wonderful group of people. I have been involved with many of their fundraisers, both donating items for Chinese auctions or raffles as well as just monetary contributions. This group does such a wonderful job providing for those in need that I 'm sure to be a part of this group for years to come. They always keep updates on who they have been able to help. I'm proud to be a small part of Walk On.

Walk On Foundation is helping me out greatly. I've been ill since 2/2012 following a bowel obstruction. The drs. Both local and big teaching hospital in the state have been unable to figure out the problem. They are recommending I be seen at Mayo Clinic in Rochchester, Mn. As they specialize in rare and unusual things. Since I don't receive much money in in a month's time I was looking for some help for hotel rooms. The walk on Foundation has been gracious enough to help me out with my room situation for a few nights. I am beyond greatful.

This organization is of utmost importance to my heart. Not only has the family behind the organization struggled with their own health issues but they put other peoples health issues first! The organization goes above and beyond the call of duty to help out their fellow man. This has always been a dream of Josh's to help his fellow man and he's doing an amazing job of it! I've known the family for about 6 years and have all good to say about them and their organization. God is watching them and their efforts to help the people who just like them have health issues. Amazing job Josh & The WOF team! You're amazing!

I can not say enough about Walk On, the people I spoke with were professional and caring. From the moment I told them we needed a wheelchair for my son, they were on it. In just a few short weeks we had the wheelchair we so desperately needed. Now we can get out on walks as a family, go to the store, football games, anything we want, all because of Walk On.Thank you so much for being here for our family!

THE SIMPLEST THINGS WE WHO ARE HEALTHY TAKE FOR GRANTED CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE TO THOSE WHO NEED PEACE OF MIND TO BE SAFE TO SLEEP AT NIGHT AND NOT WORRY IF THEY WILL AWAKE ON THE FLOOR. EXPENSES THAT OCCUR IN JUST TAKING A CHILD TO A SPECIALIST OUT OF THE AREA IS HARD ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU MAY NEED TO TAKE OFF WORK, THE GAS AND MEAL EXPENSE DURING A DAY TRIP. It always amazes me to see how many applications come in to one single organization, Walk On does what they can to try to make sure each and every one gets met. Even if that means adding another fundraiser, or assisting the applicant in finding another organization to better meet their needs.

Walk On began as a concert series called Walk On Fest that was organized to raise funds for those with Multiple Sclerosis in Central PA. After having this concert series, we felt there was a need to help in a broader scope. This is when we started a program called Walk On Heroes on the site Wish Upon A Hero (www.wishuponahero.com) where we had the platform to grant many wishes in the medical and basic necessity areas. After granting many wishes under that organization we applied for our own 501c3 status. September of 2009 we were granted that status and have been able to assist with many wonderful grants including raising funds for a peanut allergy detection dog, a prosthetic eye, a double lung transplant, a NASA suit for a boy with severe sun allergies and many other things that you can view right on our website along with the cost of those items. I have served as the Founder, as a volunteer, and as the President and in each of these positions I have learned so much and have been so blessed to see the many things our team has been able to assist with. Many lives are being changed. Please join us in changing these lives. It may be yours some day.

our multiply handicapped son was in dire need of an enclosed bed to keep him safe at night. The bed that he had was one purchased for him when he was 3 years old, and he had severely outgrown this bed...at the time of need, he was 16 years old and 5' 11. At the time, there was a waiver freeze in our state, so we were looking at at least a 3 yr wait for a new bed...and he could not wait that long. Thank GOD for Walk On Foundation, they not only found a suitable bed for Evan, but were able to arrange for it to be shipped here. Were it not for them, Evan would still be sleeping bow legged or bent in his tiny bed....THANKS to Walk On, our son now can stretch out and sleep comfortably in a beautiful fully enclosed bed . We cannot ever thank them enough for this amazing blessing. When you cannot find a way to get what you need, Walk on and it's amazing "director" Joshua Richard can find a way to make your dream a reality....God Bless you Walk On...we will never forget your blessing to our hom!!!!!

I have a child with several health problems. Thankfully we have insurance to cover medical expenses but they do not cover homeopathic remedies. Since medical treatments were not working we wanted to try a Lavender Bear that heats in the microwave for my then 2 year old son. He could put it on his legs when his PLMD and restless leg syndrom acted up. I couldn't afford the $35 bear. Walk on Foundation contacted the company that has the bears and she donated one to my son. We can do a lot of things from home, but calling someone to say you don't have the money is hard. WOF did what I couldn't do for my son. Thanks again WOF!!!!

I cannot say enough good about this foundation! Our son suffers from a large array of disabilities, and was in need of a fully enclosed bed to keep him safe at night. The bed he had been using was one he had had since age 3...and he was now 16...and no longer fit into his old bed. I posted a wish on Wish Upon A Hero, for a device to fit over his bed, to keep him safe at night... this was seen by Walk On...and they found someone to donate a fully enclosed bed to our son...not only the bed, but they also found a company to ship it to us as well! God bless them for this amazing gift to our child...finally he can sleep safe, and comfortably in a bed that fits him! His first night in that bed...he gave us the biggest smile...a smile we hadn't seen in a LONG while! He was SO happy to be able to stretch out, and not have to sleep with bent legs, all scrunched up.... Walk On is a Godsend to those of us who simply cannot afford the costs of much needed medical equipment...We never could have gotten this bed without their amazing help! Walk On Foundation has this family's undying gratitude and heart-felt thanks....they are simply put...Amazing!

I was having a horrible time with allergies and it was affecting my asthma. The same with my 6 yr old daughter. I wished for one air filtration allergy machine. I would then lug it back and forth up and down the steps of my apartment. Walk On Foundation generously donated two of these machines so I could have one on each floor. Within 2-3 days of receiving the machines, I could not believe the relief! If it was not for Walk On Foundation, I would be so much worse of health wise. The Walk on Foundation has been generously helping us raise money for my son to get an allergy detection dog. Once we contacted them within a week they had set up newspaper and radio interviews, 50/50 raffle ticket fundraiser, and had a stand set up for us at their annual Christmas Extravaganza. All of this helped to raise awareness to our need and help collect much more money then we could have on our own. Without the Walk on Foundation's help I know that we wouldn't have come as far as we have with raising the funds needed for my son's service dog.

I can not praise this foundation anymore, to anyone, than I already have!! I never realized there was such an organization till I saw it, by mistake, on the internet. I was searching for help for my one year old nephew and family- that has biliary atresia and recently had a liver transplant. i contacted Josh at the WALK ON FOUNDATION and explained our situation and what their needs were and he got back to me within 24 hrs and they had been willing to offer help to the family.
I'm really impressed that all the funds collected goes basically to help those in need, not to any CEO or executive of the foundation. What really took that impression overboard was the fact that he and his family are in need themselves and are so willing to help or give to others. Josh, his family and foundation are just what the Central Susquehanna Valley needs and my husband and I are not only thankful to them for the support towards his brother's family but also will support them anyway possible!
Much gratitude, thanx and praises go out to this group for touching the local families that are in need!!
Keep up the good work!
