Mission: The mission of vsa wisconsin, inc. Is to expand the capabilities, confidence and quality of life for children and adults with disabilities by providing programs in dance, drama, creative writing, music, and visual art.
Programs: Artist residency - vsa wisconsin, inc. Conducts early childhood, school-based and community-based residencies. Early childhood residencies use the arts to enhance early literacy skills, language development such as print awareness, phonological awareness and story sequence as well as social competence. School-based artist residencies foster creativity, artistic expression and achievement. Students and educators engage in hands-on, interactive arts programming led by professional teaching artists who have experience working with individuals of varying ability levels. Artist residencies are available in all artistic disciplines, including visual art, movement, music, drama, and creative writing. Students demonstrate the following outcomes: increased knowledge of artistic discipline and successful application of skills; increased motivation and engagement in arts activities and other core learning areas; improved self-esteem and self confidence; improved interpersonal communication and socialization skills. Community-based artist residencies foster creativity, artistic expression and self confidence in adults with disabilities. vsa art center - adults with disabilities ages 16 and up explore the creative arts through classes and workshops in visual art, movement/dance, drama and music. Classes are taught by professional teaching artists.
choir -the choirs are comprised of individuals with and without disabilities who rehearse regularly and give public performances. Choir members learn about pitch, tone, rhythm, movement, and composition. Some choirs use instruments, such as tone chimes, drums and rhythm sticks to broaden the musical experience and maximize participation by everyone.
