Mission: The purposes of the Corporation are (section 2 of the By-laws):(a) to encourage and foster participation in and appreciation of the musical and dramatic arts, by means of public performances of concerts, operas, operettas, musical comedies, plays, and other musical or dramatic works;(b) to provide its Members with opportunities to acquire, improve, and demonstrate musical and dramatic performing skills; and,(c) to make such performances available to the community, including the elderly, handicapped, and economically disadvantaged.With its open casting policy and large scale productions, VLOG gives aspiring actors, directors and designers a chance to prove themselves. With fifty-plus member casts and twenty-plus piece orchestras, VLOG has set standards rarely met by New York's commercial theater organizations. A unique blend of professional standards and community interests, VLOG has set itself apart, filling an important niche in New York society.As a 501(c)3 organization, VLOG accepts tax-deductible charitable contributions and grants to cover its general operating expenses and in support of special projects. The VLOG Guild recognizes supporters whose donations help to defray VLOG's operating expenses.VLOG currently is accepting dedicated donations to its Capital Fund to support the purchase of a permanent space for set and costume construction and rehearsal facilities. To date VLOG has rented space for its set and costume construction facilities and separate space for rehearsals. This arrangement is no longer feasible due to the escalating costs of renting in Manhattan. With interest rates low, there is an opportunity for VLOG to secure its financial future by purchasing a permanent home. With a space of its own, VLOG will be able to expand its theatrical offerings to its membership, audiences and supporters, and help other not-for-profit arts organizations by offering use of its space at affordable rates.
