Mission: Victims of TCE Exposure...A Lasting Legacy is committed to helping workers and families get the community support, medical information, and legal information they need to cope with the enormous adverse health risks of long term trichloroethylene (TCE) exposure suffered at home or in the workplace.
Programs: V.O.T.E is a grass roots advocacy group serving roughly 20,000 former View-Master workers who were exposed to the highest amount of TCE ever recorded in the US in the drinking water at the toy factory where they worked. We serve the former View-Master workers via a telephone hotline, a website, we are preparing to conduct a community based health study using information we have gathered via telephone survey on the former View-Master workers. We are also interested in developing a physician education program to make sure that local doctors are aware of TCE's toxicity and how it effects the human body, especially the elderly and children.VOTE has also branched out to include other communities across the nation who have questions about TCE exposure. Our aim is to keep the issue of this widespread contaminant and it's health effects in the national eye of our law and policy makers. One way we can do this is by comparing notes with other communities.
