Mission: The valley of the moon children's foundation is a private, nonprofit organization established to provide supportive and educational services for the abandoned, neglected and abused children of sonoma county.
Programs: Vmcf foundation grant program:the vomcf grants funding to programs that share our common goals and further strengthen our collaboration with agencies and individuals in sonoma county. This has increased our ability to avoid duplication of services and has narrowed our focus to achievable, actionable programs where we can measure the outcomes and better serve our children while in the home, and former foster youth located in sonoma county through a myriad of services and programs. 1) v. O. I. C. E. S sonoma: $40,000 to help with youth staffing for this comprehensive resource center serving foster youth who are aging out of the foster care system, and located in sonoma county; and a satellite site located at the children's home to provide youth with a safety net of information on services and programs once they age out of foster care. 2) art therapy by michiko spring for children living at the home to assist them in dealing with their trauma. The children create beautiful works of art which are hanging throughout the home. 3) supports the music for life music program for children in the home. 4) sonoma county human services department: $123,000 to help fund the international trauma center's 10 day shelter following the north bay wildfires.
valley of the moon children's foundation (vmcf) scholarship program: for the past 10 years the foundation has awarded over 200 scholarships for a total of $550,000 to former foster youth in sonoma county who are looking to seek further educational, vocational, or trade opportunities.
valley of the moon children's center (vmcc) dental program: the vmcc dental program has served over 700 children. Many of these children have never been seen by a dentist or hygienist before. They are taught proper oral hygiene and are now able to smile again. There have been over 8,000 appointments.
