Mission: Usona institute conducts and supports pre-clinical and clinical research to further the understanding of the therapeutic effects of psilocybin and other consciousness-expanding medicines. Our focus is on alleviating depression and anxiety in people for whom current medical treatments fall short in offering relief and a better quality of life.
Programs: Usona institute has continued to prepare for multi-site clinical trials to investigate psilocybin as a treatment for major depressive disorder (mdd). In 2017 usona's program activities included multiple pre-ind meetings with the fda, finalization of phase 2 and phase 3 study protocols and ind materials preparations, the qualification and selection of research partners and clinical sites, continued work on the establishment of a standardized clinical guiding protocol and training program, the establishment of two chemistry research labs, and the creation of an investigator's brochure for psilocybin which will be shared with the psilocybin research community. Usona also hosted a scientific symposium in december, gathering key opinion leaders from north america and europe.
