Causes: Public & Societal Benefit
Mission: The u. S. Zero waste business council mission is to educate, inform and document the performance of zero waste businesses using scientific methods to help businesses and communities become more healthy and sustainable. The u. S. Zero waste business council will create a solid foundation that advances the integrity and credibility of zero waste. Zero waste businesses save money, are more efficient, manage risk, reduce litter and pollution, cut greenhouse gases, reinvest resources locally, and create jobs and more value for their business and the community.
Programs: Provided free services and zero waste information to over 4000 businesses, nonprofits, government agencies and individuals through newsletters, individual consulting /advisement via phone, email and in person. Provided support to businesses to help them save money and create jobs by providing information on better sorting of materials, training of employees and markets for materials. Presented (for free) at conferences, workshops and other community events to further educate the public on zero waste and the benefits to the community, businesses and government agencies. Provided job information to unemployed and under employed individuals in the areas of resource management and zero waste. Provided expert input on development of composting, recycling and resource. Management opportunities and projects.
