Mission: The United States Surfing Federation is a national organization dedicated to coordinating a competitive surfing program open to all levels of surfers nationwide. The USSF is committed to helping promote surfing and surfers in a positive manner on a national and international level. The United States Surfing Federation was created in 1980 as the national governing body for competitive surfing within the United States. Furthermore, the International Surfing Association empowers the USSF to establish and select members of the United States National Surfing Team representing America in all international competitions.
USSF is committed to:
Providing service, leadership, and a strong competitive foundation to its members as the highest priority; developing consistent, open communication with all other amateur and professional surfing organizations - encouraging a unified national competition program; promoting the acceptance of surfing in the United States as a legitimate competitive sport comparable to other mainstream sports already well exposed by the media; encouraging diversity by offering programs and competitions to surfers of all genders, races, ethnic backgrounds, disabilities and abilities.
