Causes: Health, Health Support
Mission: The uprising makes annual grants to community-based organizations working directly to improve the health of new york city residents. In order to focus the scope of our work, each year the uprising will determine an area of intention (examples alleviating food deserts, increasing physical activity for kids aged 8-14, greenifying new york city communal spaces) and seek organizations that are doing innovative work in that field. Through an open granting process, the uprising board and field experts will select organizations with a proven track record of success, measurable impact on the community they serve, and articulated plans for growth. The application process requires a narrative and a financial report. After that preliminary screening, applicants will be invited to in-person meetings to determine that the uprising can provide the best possible support to our partner organizations.
