Causes: Arts & Culture, Theater
Mission: Unscrewed Theater is dedicated to teaching and showcasing the art of improvisational theater as well as other unique forms of live entertainment. We foster a safe and supportive atmosphere in which artists can grow and explore their talent. We provide a venue to showcase these talents as to enrich our community through the art of improv.
Results: Our Unscrewed Story Unscrewed Theater, a 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is dedicated to teaching, performing, and producing all forms of live improvisational theater in Tucson, AZ. We opened our doors in January 2014, right in the middle of Tucson on Speedway Blvd. In September 2018, we celebrated our Grand Opening 2.0 when we opened our doors at our forever home at 4500 E Speedway Blvd #39. Right down the street from our old location. Not Burnt Out Just Unscrewed (NBOJU), Unscrewed Theater’s original house team, has been around since 2002. Emulating the improv greats - Second City, The Groundlings, iO, Comedy Store Players, etc. - Not Burnt Out Just Unscrewed has grown from an experiment into a phenomenon, providing Southern Arizona with 17+ years of entertainment! Three more house teams have joined NBOJU in the last five years - From The Top, Comic Chaos, and Leaky Faucets. The Improv Funny has just begun. You can bring the whole family to see our 7:30 shows on Friday and Saturday night, or turn off your filters for our 17+ UNCENSORED shows! Working without a script, we create fast-paced games and scenes based on audience participation and suggestions. Every show is different because we never know what you'll throw at us! OR, come see our Free From Friday or Fight Night shows for FREE! In addition to bringing the funny to Tucson every weekend, we teach Improv classes. For improvisors of every level. Improv changes lives. Just ask anyone who’s taken our classes. Need to schedule a team building event for our organization?
