Mission: To find, train, and educate students who show excellence in their artistic potential for ballet.
Programs: During 2017 the kirov academy graduated 11 students with a high school diploma. The number of graduates in 2016 was 11. The student body for the academic year ending in may 2017 consisted of 56 students, while the enrollment as of september 2016 was 59 students. Over 470 dancers were auditioned during a six week audition tour early in the year that included 12 different cities in the united states. Many of these were selected to attend intensive training sessions held in the summer at the kirov academy. Total enrollment in the summer sessions was 115 students. Approximately 90 children from the washington metropolitan area attended preparatory ballet classes at the kirov academy. The kirov academy also staged concerts which were held in our studios in may and december for the sake of parents and invited guests. There were various performances in washington dc area in 2017 including at the italian embassy at the souza middle school, the armed forces retirement home, at the russian embassy, most significantly, 14 students performed with marinsky ballet (kirov ballet) at the kennedy center in november of 2017.
