Programs: Support for children and youth programs. The united way funded seven separate programs with partner agencies. The programs were funded in order to assist each child in whitley county achieve their highest potential. These included programs that offered support for academic success, encouragement for positive self-esteem, and to provide advocacy for those at risk. The united way also supports a kindergarten countdown program to help children from low income families prepare for starting school.
support for community, crisis, and health programs. The united way funded five programs with partnner agencies. These programs addressed the basic needs of whitley county families in crisis and provided health services and education. Additionally, the united way promotes volunteerism throughout the year by matching volunteers with opportunities. Each year in september the united way sponsors a one day event called the "day of caring". In 2017 there were 373 volunteers that provided 2,238 hours of service on 62 different community projects.
