Mission: United way manitowoc county envisions a community where all individuals and families achieve their potential through education, income stability and health lives, the building blocks for a good quality of life. We provide leadership by addressing community needs, mobilizing community resources, assessing and prioritizing community needs collectively, and appropriately distributing funds and assuring program accountability all while improving social wellness and promoting personal growth.
Programs: United way manitowoc county believes everyone deserves opportunities to build a good life. A quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement, and good health. United way manitowoc county works through collective impact, in which many partners collaborate in a systematic way to solve complex community problems. Our goal is to create long-lasting change by addressing the underlying casues of these problems. Grant funding awarded to local programs focuses on achieving outcomes in three specific focus areas:1. Nurture all to achieve their potential;2. Strengthen financial stability and independence;3. Foster the well-being of all.
2-1-1 is a free and confidential information and referral resource; an easy to remember phone number that connects individuals with resources in our community. 2-1-1 offers information on a broad range of services, including rent assistance, food banks, affordable housing, health resources, child care, after-school programs, elderly care, financial literacy, flu shot clinics, and job training programs.
the retired and senior volunteer program is america's largest volunteer network for people age 55 and over, consisting of over 400,000 volunteers nationwide. The united way rsvp is a local volunteer program that provides the critical link between volunteers and the needs in manitowoc county. The program recruits and places volunteers at non-profit public organizations, inlcuding community events and special projects. The mission of the program is to improve lives, strengthen communities and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering.
