Mission: The fund's mission is to turn gently worn, luxury products sitting in women's closets around the globe, into funding for other public charities. Union & fifth was founded by pamela trefler (president and director) and christena reinhard (treasurer and director) after they realized that encouraging women to donate their designer clothing and accessories that they no longer use could raise significant funds to benefit established public charities. Union & fifth will raise funds by soliciting donations of gently used designer goods, such as clothes, shoes, handbags and jewelry.
Programs: Donors are solicited through networking, including developing relationships with personal shoppers at high-end department stores and celebrity stylists, who can encourage their clients to donate their old items after purchasing new ones. Union & fifth also networks with other non-profit organizations and fraternal orders that have a large donor base to encourage those donors to give to union & fifth.
