Mission: PURPOSE Under One Sky is a mentoring village for self-discovery and renewal of the human spirit, for youth in foster care in North Carolina and the people who support them. VISION Under One Sky serves older youth in foster care who are at risk of reaching adulthood without an adoptive family or strong community of support. Through involvement in Under One Sky, youth discover and develop a new awareness of personal purpose, belonging, and connection with others. Under One Sky supports them in becoming authors of their own lives, integrating an array of competencies for successful independent and interdependent living, and sharing their gifts with the world. COMMITMENT Under One Sky commits to serving cohorts of youth for a three-year period. We work with social workers, foster parents, and potential adoptive families to create strong, permanent adoptive placements. In addition to official adoptions, we facilitate other types of sustainable support. Our primary commitment to the youth we serve and mentor is unconditional --each youth is part of the Under One Sky village, regardless of his/her current status regarding adoption.
