I rescued my Britany Spaniel mixed sweet Charley on Presidents’ Day of 2013. My wife had passed away in May of 2012, and I needed a companion to be there for me during some lonely grieving times. At first I was uncertain about getting my first dog as an adult though I had grown up with many dogs before going off to college. Charley was a very loving dog, a constant companion that rescued me from loneliness and despair. His nature was perfect for me because he was a little introverted and loved to walk. We walked countless miles together and the years flew by. He was gentle and sweet so he came with me most anywhere when I felt it safe at times to leave him in my vehicle for a short while. My Charley passed away just a few days after Presidents’ Day from liver cancer. 4 months prior he had severe glaucoma in his right eye and we had to surgically remove the afflicted eye. 4 years prior to that he pulled a tendon in his right leg and would no longer had been able to hike again were it not for artificial hip surgery. This year came the time we could no longer fix his ailment and we had to mercifully euthanize him. I am fragile and miss him with all my heart. He rescued me and we were inseparable.

I have been volunteering at Brother Wolf since 2023, and from the start, I’ve been impressed by this organization. From it’s streamlined and easy to understand onboarding process and volunteer portal, to the thoughtful and informative volunteer training program — Brother Wolf has given me the tools to feel confident as a volunteer assisting animals and become a better pet owner to my own pets. If you are looking to support an organization and improve the overall quality of life for all our furry friends, consider becoming a volunteer at Brother Wolf!

I have volunteered at Brother Wolf since we arrived in Asheville in 2015. I love this place!!! Although there have been many changes through the years, their mission remains consistent. There is a true love of animals and hard work to do the best for each and every animal's welfare. As a volunteer, I have always felt welcome and respected on campus. Brother Wolf dedicates itself to the betterment of animals in the entire community by taking in homeless animals in outlying rural communities where shelter space is limited. Potential adopters are treated with respect and given full disclosure and education regarding the introduction of a new pet into the household. Screening potential adopters to make sure the new pet will be a good fit is a vital component of each adoption. Their foster program as well as the work of their resident behaviorist assists dogs who need some extra time for their adjustment to the shelter environment. Further responsibility to the community is evidenced by their mobile spay and neuter clinic which offers low-cost services to any pet owners. I would not have given so many years of volunteer service to Brother Wolf unless I truly believed in and respected their mission!

I have been a volunteer for 8 years after moving to Asheville and hearing all about this remarkable facility. The first thing that comes to mind after working here is the atmosphere of love for animals that permeates through every staff member. Everyone has made me feel so welcomed and made me realize that all my contributions both monetary and timewise make a valuable contribution to the health and safety of homeless animals. As a front desk volunteer I am very involved with the animal surrender process. Many of the calls that I take can be heartbreaking, but Brother Wolf steps in to help whenever possible. However, they are committed to accept dogs which are safe and adoptable to any potential adopter. While this has sometimes led to misunderstandings in order to maintain their status as a no-kill shelter they are adamant that each dog taken in can be safely adopted into a loving home. Their thorough vetting process of surrendering an animal as well as adopting which includes counseling, medcal updating, and steps of how to introduce your new pet to the other animals in the home assures a positive outcome to the adoption process. I look forward to every volunteer shift. I love this place!!

I have been following Brother Wolf's good work since 2020, and I happily joined the volunteer team this year! Brother Wolf truly cares about doing what is in the best interest of the animals in their care. Not only do they genuinely care about the animals, but they also care about the people who work, volunteer, and foster. It's such a beautiful thing to witness their compassionate care of animals!

Brother Wolf is full of some of the most compassionate people I have ever met! I have been volunteering there since the fall and love that they have so many volunteer opportunities. I usually opt for hour-long 1:1s to help socialize the dogs that have been there for a longer time or need some help warming up. They also have other great options for the dogs including play groups, doggie day outs, and group hikes.

Any time I have a question, observation, or a concern, the staff listen and there is no question that they have so much love in their hearts for the animals they help. A recent experience showed me that their care goes far beyond just the adoption and extends to after the animals leave Brother Wolf. It is not just an operation to place an animal and their passion is evident. I think I get far more from this volunteer experience than any of the animals do...I would be there every day if I could!! Here are just a few of the precious babies I've had the pleasure of hanging out with during my time volunteering.

Brother Wolf is an amazing nonprofit organization that employs some of the most lovely and kind hearted individuals here in Asheville, NC. They make certain all of the animals are cared for and loved while in residence. They also set adopters up for success through their programs, as well as assistance long after the actual foster or adoption is complete. I would highly recommend signing up for their volunteer programs, and or adopting your new family member from Brother Wolf.

Brother Wolf is an amazing animal rescue organization. They have so many community programs and training opportunities for volunteers. They treat each animal with love and every potential owner with respect. I adopted both of my pit-pull babies from Brother Wolf and have loved them for 10+ years. I also take time to volunteer there and can speak to the kindness of their staff and teams.

They compassionately care for the animals, it is well organized and has many opportunities to learn about the care and temperament of the dogs and cats. I joined BWAR to volunteer in Nov of 2021. Quickly went through their training protocols and gladly became a Foster Home. The love and care the staff shows the animals is abundantly evident throughout the campus. Everyone shows respect to each other and makes you feel as part of the team. As with any team there are responsibilities, education, and support expectations. Their educational class requirements continually improve offerings to ensure the safest handling and care is given to the animals and build confidence in ones skills. You are never requested or expected to do anything “uncomfortable “. I am always happily willing to give my free time to BWAR to assist in any area they need because of their concerns for the animals and their communication of tasks. All of their animals are exercised and touched/loved everyday and it shows. Any found issues are immediately addressed and their ability to work with the areas Veterinary Hospitals puts the animals first. I actually adopted my 8th foster and he was positive with heartworm. BWAR made sure he was treated and well and is now all clear. The best little hiking/camping buddy. If looking for a rescue that truely care for their animals, look towards BWAR.

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue has been my volunteer passion project since 2014. It's been a privilege to be involved with this organization; one that goes beyond the call of duty to help homeless animals. As a hike leader with Brother Wolf's Outward Hounds Hiking Group, we take the shelter dogs to the trails twice a week for long hikes and lots of new sniffs. These hikes provide good information about an animal's behavior outside the shelter - info that Brother Wolf adoption counselors can use when placing an animal in a permanent home. BWAR has a proven record of concern for animals in its care and deserves to be named a Great Non-profit!

Buncombe County is so blessed to have this no kill shelter and gives every animal unconditional love until a loving person or family comes to door ready to give an animal a loving home.
Thanks to ALL of you. You are so appreciated. It's no small job to do what you all do and I truly do thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I have been a volunteer with Brother Wolf since August 2020. The organization offers ongoing training opportunities in order to qualify for additional duties such as Dog Day Out and Outward Hounds. In the spring I began volunteering on Saturday as a guide to take interested individuals through the kennel to meet our adoptable dogs. I quickly learned the value of our adoption counselors. They work with each dog regularly, learning their personalities, strengths, likes and dislikes, in order to make their adoptions successful. They spend countless hours with our adopters helping them pick the dog that will be a successful addition to their home. I encourage any potential adopter to visit Brother Wolf. Not only can you find your next pup, but you can benefit from the knowledge base of these dedicated staff members.

Brother Wolf does not deserve a single penny until they can account for the 9 dogs or dog bodies that are missing since last week with no explanation. 501C charities are accountable for every single body and they have not done that for these dogs. was a huge advocate for this rescue ( even going through their volunteer training) until I recently found out that the new director is murdering dogs she does not deem adoptable even with other real rescues have offered to take these dogs. Negative comments are deleted off of Facebook and then you are banned from commenting on the page. They are not telling the public what is really going on and instead letting an ego-driven director, that has only been there a year, to make decisions on these dogs that are loved and valued. She has consistently alienated volunteers, supporters, and staff. For the love of God and all that is holy, someone please fire the director and get back to the roots of this once admired rescue !!!

This used to be a good no-kill shelter. I used to volunteer there myself. However under new management, they have “misplaced” significant funds. They’ve put a building that was gifted for the specific purpose of building a sanctuary up for sale. In a public forum, they were asked about the funds that were intended for the sanctuary (a few hundred thousand), and would not give a straight answer as to where the money went. The new director has very little animal rescue experience and is making heartless decisions. They’ve euthanized nearly 20 dogs just recently. They are not fulfilling their obligation as a “no-kill” rescue, but they are mass euthanizing dogs in order to pull more in from surrounding counties. Animal welfare advocates in surrounding counties are trying to prevent them from taking animals from their shelters due to the current circumstances there. There is now a pending lawsuit regarding their treatment of animals and misappropriation of funds.

Brother Wolf has touted itself as a “no kill” shelter for years, collecting donations from the local community under this guise. In the last four months or so Brother Wolf has euthanized 10+ dogs with no verifiable history of illness or aggression. Brother Wolf claims these animals were ”aggressive and beyond saving” yet they allowed these dangerous animals to continue to be housed (why waste resources on animals you “know” are beyond saving?), work with volunteers (why expose people who aren’t professional handlers to “dangerous animals?”), go on public hikes where they were exposed to other animals (without incident), and even had many listed as adoptable online until they were put down (many people offered to take any of these dogs in and were turned down). None of these decisions make any sense if these animals are “certified as unable to be rehabilitated and are a danger to themselves and others.” Brother Wolf did not allow these animals a chance at rehabilitation nor did they have them professionally evaluated by a behaviorist. Brother Wolf has fired all employees and volunteers who attempted to advocate for these animals. Brother Wolf denied other rescues (and fosters and volunteers and behaviorist etc etc — all willing to sign away any liability for BW) from taking in these animals, even when they were willing to take them in for free. Leah, the director at Brother Wolf, reached out to James at Kenos about taking in these animals. James gave her a number which Leah found to be too high. When James found out these animals would be killed he offered to waive all fees and take the dogs for free. Leah said no, saying Kenos no longer met her criteria, despite the fact it was worthy enough for Leah to research and make first contact. The founder of Brother Wolf, Joelle, who now runs another wonderful local rescue, was denied from taking in any animals. Brother Wolf keeps posting disingenuous articles about the “warehousing” of animals but it is a false flag as that was not the situation here. Brother Wolf received over one million dollars from the local community for land and to open a sanctuary that conveniently went missing. The community has been waiting years for transparency on that matter, repeatedly being told an explanation would be given, though it has yet to happen. Brother Wolf has been deleting all questions or calls for accountability on all forms of social media to try and hide the controversy rather than be transparent about why these unnecessary killings keep happening. I will be documenting the posting of this review due to that. If you would like to know more about what is happening please visit the Facebook group BWARe B Their Voice.

“Struggling with behavioral issues, Brother Wolf only euthanizes animals who are irredeemably suffering due to medical issues or are too aggressive with no hope of rehabilitation. We believe that each and every animal life matters.”

In the past year BWAR has a new ED. In an effort to deal with what is apparently a real financial mess, in December 2019 in a piece in the Asheville Citizen-Times she announced a change in mission away from a rescue which devoted resources to dogs which needed some help--a little or a lot--to be appropriately placed. This takes time and resources, so the best way I can think to describe the rather drastic change in mission is they appear to have gone from a rescue to a non profit volume and adoption fee pet store. It's not the sort of nonprofit I support with my donations, but by adopting out a large volume of easy to place dogs they may be saving them from death when high kill shelters kill because they are out of space. Here is the major problem and destruction of public trust. There were long term residents in the way of this high turnover plan. Some had a variety of what are behavioral issues but also issues caused by haphazard behavior mishandling by and management of volunteers and employees. There are documents showing the vet was deeply concerned that medication management was a mess--leaving some dogs with abrupt absence of medications, incorrectly dosed, and lack of documentation. In a cynical move to kill dogs who had overstayed their welcome and were taking up kennel space, it appears around 20-25 dogs who had overstayed their welcome have been killed since early fall. The ED declared them all unadoptable and killed them in spite of clearly to well qualified rescuers with deep experience with these dogs safe, free, and well matched placements. People have been fired for disagreeing with her, long term volunteers sent away, and concerned community members, others walked away in disgust when the last batch of dogs were killed on Saturday. Instead of working diligently with safe placements for these dogs to better enable the change of BWAR from a rescue to a high volume non profit pet store, which may indeed increase the number of overall dogs saved, she just killed them. The staff vet would not kill them. No local for hire vets would kill them. they brought in an out of town vet to do the deed. There are so many testimonials and videos and photos of these dogs on a FB page representing the dogs who could have been placed BWARe B Their Voice and so much documentation also presented on that FB page, She has vigorously blocked any community questions and criticisms by taking down any negative comments, Yelp immediately took down comments trying to share the truth with the public. There are lawsuits being processed I believe, which I believe include from donors who feel their donations were not used as promised. The ED is inexperienced with rescue and has a background in fundraising and event planning. As the community fights to get the real information out to the public to see if the ED's claims are valid, support is eroding. There are so many wonderful rescues out there I would never support this shelter. I need to know someone qualified, compassionate, and humane is making the decision to euthanize dogs because there truly is no humane and safe alternative. Sorry so long, but we've got to get then word out. She's protecting what I understand is a 6 figure salary and fluffing adoption volume so many dogs can be killed and still keep them in within the metric of a non kill rescue.

After years of talking about it, we finally made it to Brother Wolf! The sanctuary itself is absolutely gorgeous, set in the mountains of western NC. John gave us a tour, introducing us to the inhabitants and sharing the vision of how the land will be used for animal care, outreach and education in the future.

The operations in Asheville were impressive - the thrift store, supply store and grooming center support the shelter where animals await adoption. We found this beauty there and although we drove home without her, had to return the following week! Freyja is settling into her new home and we’re so grateful to Brother Wolf for saving her.

BWAR does so much for the community and for animals. They also rescue animals in other cities when there are hurricanes, etc. I am so impressed with all they do and how many animal lives they save. And I am impressed with their entire organization

I have been actively involved in animal rescue/animal welfare for over 22 years and across several states. BWAR is unique in that they not only rescue, rehabilitate, care for and rehome animals in need -- they educate their staff and their community. They are creative and diverse with the ultimate goal of providing resources and programs that educate and bring awareness to the benefits of creating No Kill communities.

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue is amazing! Not only are they doing incredible things to help animals in our community but the work they do in disaster zones to help victims of hurricanes and floods is absolutely heroic!

Brother Wolf also helps our local community keep the pets they have by keeping a food pantry and offering behavioral help. Another thing I love about them is that they aren’t just limited to domestic animals, they also have a sanctuary for farm animals so that they can live out a life of peace instead of cruelty. They encourage their employees to be vegan and have helped many members of the community to convert to a vegan lifestyle as well.

This organization is the real deal and they truly love and help animals! I attached a photo of my son being handed our new puppy by a BWAR employee 8 years ago.

I met people connected with Brother Wolf through activism for Farmed Animals in NC.
I followed their staff during Hurricane Florence doing rescues of cats, dogs and some farm animals , traveling by boat in dangerous flood waters. This organization truly loves animals.
Most recently, a friend rescued a Walker Hound dog who was sick and I fostered him for several weeks until he was well and had gained weight and his coat was restored. I reached out to Brother Wolf when I saw on their website that they can find forever homes for animals. Luckily Denise was interested in him personally as an addition to her brood. When I drove him up to Asheville I could see right away that this would be exactly the right place for him! He is very happy there with room to run, other dogs to play with, and a great human being (Denise) to look after him. I trust this organization!

Brother Wolf Animal rescue has a program called “Keep Me Safe” where they will temporarily provide respite and medical care for the pets of victims of domestic violence. Many victims will not leave their abuser because of their pets. Brother Wolf took care of my abused family member’s dog to allow her the opportunity to find safe housing for herself. Both are doing well now, and Brother Wolf was instrumental in helping them to safety.

I have been fostering for Brother Wolf Animal Rescue for about three years now. During that time 68 animals have passed through my home. Some were adopted, some transported up north to new families, some were fospice animals and died in my care, but there last months were in a loving home instead of in a shelter. I have fostered short term, during an emergency such as flooding, and long term, upwards to a year and over. I have had seniors and newborns, bonded cats and mama dogs. Throughout BWAR has supported me, helped me, reassured me when I panic, and completely held me up so I could give these animals the best care possible. They provide medical care, and when a situation is beyond them, like little Sandy, a Chihuahua with two broken hips and two dislocated knees, they sent me to the very best for his surgeries. I absolutely cannot say enough good things about them and the work they do.

I foster with BWAR, as well as volunteering for assorted events. Few things in my life have been as rewarding as the fostering experience. BWAR is completely supportive. They have, on different occasions, given me food, litter, puppy pads, crates, gates, puppy pens and tons of emotional support as well as educational information. I can call at any time and always receive help. When they changed their policy on fospice dogs, to allow them to be adopted if someone was willing to take on the work, they grandfathered my old fospice dog in so he wouldn't have any more shake-ups in what was left of his life. They get excited with me over my little triumphs, mourn with me over the inevitable loss (with no hint of recrimination) and support me when I feel overwhelmed. The number of dogs and cats and rats and who knows what all that pass through their doors, to be retrained, loved, socialized, treated and ultimately adopted into loving homes is beyond belief. They can bend the rules when rigidity would be inhumane, and they hold to them otherwise so we all know what the procedures, policies and boundaries are. I love BWAR!

I highly recommend Brother Wolf Animal Rescue! They are very compassionate & always put the animals first.
I Network dogs in shelters. I try to find rescues who will fully vet them, foster them & help the dog become adoptable. I’ve asked BWAR on several occasions to pull a dog that would be euthanized if a rescue doesn’t save them. Dogs that had no rescue interest or chance to make it out alive. They have never hesitated once. They once rescued 4 senior dogs who were 12-14 years old. These seniors didn’t have a prayer but BWAR had their back. They took them without any hesitation.
I asked them to take another dog who had limited info. We didn’t know how old the dog was nor any medical info. She was a female. That’s all we knew. That’s what awesome rescues do! They just want to save the dog in need. They don’t choose the prettiest dog or the healthiest dog. They choose the dog who needs them the most. That’s why this rescue is my hero.

Brother Wolf is an extraordinary community of caring animal lovers in the greater Asheville community who are devoted to the mission of no kill. Over the years, many of my friends have adopted dogs and cats from BWAR, and have received exceptional service throughout the adoption process; indeed, I applied to adopt a dog a few years ago, and was impressed by the caring professionalism I experienced. BWAR is one of only a small handfuls of dog and cat rescues that have expanded their definition of compassion to include all animals; they're currently in the process of building a sanctuary for farmed animals that will be open to the public and offer a variety of educational (and fun) opportunities for the community. I am also proud of the fact that BWAR routinely partners with other organizations, in our immediate community and beyond, for a variety of reasons and causes -- always with the goal of creating a more just and compassionate world. If it's not obvious, I think Brother Wolf is an exceptional organization that has earned the trust and support it receives from the Asheville community.

I volunteered for over four years and fostered more than 40 dogs. I accepted difficult fosters including fospice, seniors and feral dogs. I adopted 3 dogs from BWAR. I have gone to another rescue due to the lack of transparency regarding finance and board members as well as upper management's stranglehold on the organization. They have a board that consists of 3 or 4 people who vote along with with CEO and founder. Their physical building is over flowing and inadequate for the numbers that pass through the building. Employees work hard and are very kind as time permits. The mission of BWAR has become diluted by their desire to grow larger without the means to do it. They have done so much for our community and I hope they make the necessary changes to their organization so that it continues that work.

Amazing no-kill shelter in Asheville NC. They regularly pull dogs from kill shelters to give them a chance at life; they transport many dogs to adoptive homes up north. Many dedicated staff and volunteers head out to flooded parts of the country to rescue animals that have been left behind. They are also building a sanctuary for older animals who will likely never be adopted. Simply amazing work and tireless dedication.

I've had the pleasure of volunteering for Brother Wolf Animal Rescue for over 6 years now and I can't say enough good things about this organization. The dedication and compassion of the staff and volunteers at BWAR speaks volumes. Treatment is offered to animals that come into the BWAR network who need medical assistance or behavioral modifications -each animal is assessed for their individual needs.

Brother Wolf is a wonderful animal shelter that is open to the public 7 days a week, making it easy for folks to visit with the adoptable animals.

BWAR does a great job of matching up the appropriate pet for those people that are looking to adopt.

I recommend this group to folks who are looking to adopt or make a donation to - their money will be used to help the animals in their care or used towards one of their other life saving programs.

I have followed Brother Wolf Animal Rescue for years, have visited and have volunteered. I even adopted a kitten from there who is so stunningly affectionate, you know that she was raised with great care and love before I adopted her. This group has done amazing things in bringing the greater Asheville area together to support No Kill.. They have helped untold animals and their caregivers. They don't just try to spay their way to No Kill, they use a number of things, including providing support to pet families in need to increase retention of animals in their homes. They are innovative and authentic in finding ways to help the animals in their community and beyond.

They responded to the floods in SC last year by helping 3 counties with the least resources get their animals to safety and adopted out so they could receive animals who got away or had to be left during evacuation and supported these underserved communities long after the big money national groups left, including taking the hardest cases and fostering them and finding transport and homes for them.

They are generous with sharing information with other communities who want to go No Kill and frequently travel and provide resources for these communities all over the south out of their own coffers. They deserve all the support they can get.

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue is our local no-kill animal rescue that takes in thousands of animals each year. They often take in animals that no other local shelters will take due to medical and behavioral issues. They strive to make sure all animals have a chance at a wonderful life. They have a facility and also utilize foster homes. Some of their community services include: free spay/neuter assistance, a pet food pantry, behavioral counseling and youth education programs. They provide a clean and happy environment for their animals in the facility, and offer their animals exercise programs, mental stimulation, behavioral counseling, and lots of attention and love. They have made such a positive impact on animals in our community, as well as our children. BWAR is far more than the average rescue/adoption center. Open 7 days a week and virtually always at full capacity, it mobilizes 100s of volunteers (actually believed to be closer to 3000 total) to help with the immense demands of tending the animals and receiving mountains of donations for and running the gift shop. But the part that touches me deeply is their participation in transport of the surplus of animals for adoption in the US South to the Northeast where there is a shortage of animals for adoption, thereby avoiding having to put down wonderful creatures in untold numbers. They are tireless, “one-thousand percent” committed, and true community builders among animal lovers of every stripe. They also do highly imaginative, unconventional fundraisers (e.g., the hilarious Drag Queen Bingo or the Spay-ghetti and No Balls dinner) that are fun, build community, and set them apart!

Where do I start...enough cannot be said about Brother Wolf. My husband and I drive all the way from ga. to volunteer at BWAR. We love to spend our time helping an organization that takes their job of caring for so many animals seriously. Let's just say, that if I was a dog and had to be in a shelter, it would be BWAR....it's clean, extremely well run, I know everyone would be nice to me and that I would eat well, exercise all the time by taking hikes and playing in the play yard with friends. If I was sick they would take me to the vet and their ultimate goal would be to find me a forever home. And, if that home didn't work out they would take me back and find one that fit my needs. Their founder is an amazing person who works outrageous hours trying to find "a better way" in all aspects of running a shelter. They are a No-Kill shelter which becomes quite costly. Denise Bitz, the founder, is so innovative in finding people to volunteer to sponsor fundraisers to help run this enormous undertaking. When I volunteer I could be helping with laundry or sorting donations in their two wonderful thrift stores...whatever needs to be done gets done...it totally amazes how well organized they are every time I go there. Bwar is truly the best animal shelter I've ever volunteered with and I look forward to be with the animals as often as possible. Bottom line is that they are a great great great organization. I can't say enough good things about Brother Wolf.

As both a volunteer and donor, my husband & I consider BWAR to be the best animal rescue in our area (Southeast). Their approach to caring for all the furry friends in Western North Carolina have far exceeded our expectations. We have been fosters for over 3 years now and any time there is a problem, it is dealt with the upmost professional and knowledgeable staff. If there is a medical concern that needs more attention, there is no hesitation on sending us to a vet for care. The medical bill averages $30,000 per month to care for all, that's a lot of $$$$$$. Its a delight to be part of an organization that has the compassion and drive to deal with all the situations thrown upon them. Denise Bitz, who is the founder of BWAR is the most overworked, underpaid, compassionate and driven person I've ever met. The plans for future expansion are in place, but can not be realized until the funds are available. Very frustrating on everyone's part. If you can help please do. What an amazing organization! Very dedicated people towards the cause of No Kill. I have volunteered with Brother Wolf Animal Rescue for many years, and have found the folks here to be compassionate and giving. They are dedicated to saving the lives of animals - young, old, sick, healthy. I've seen people go out in the middle of the night, in the worst of weather, to rescue animals in need. I know foster parents who have taken in pregnant mom ready to deliver and go on to foster mom and pups until they are ready for adoption. There is no end to the compassion here. And staff are so wonderful with their volunteers - caring, inspirational - over and over I have seen the community go to great lengths to help out this organization - businesses do fundraisers, children forgo gifts at their birthday parties and instead ask for donations for the animals in the care of Brother Wolf Animal Rescue. It is truly a "community" organization where you will feel welcome. There are many volunteer opportunities - there is a hiking club where you can take the shelter dogs out for hikes, you can be an enrichment counselor to help "enrich" the lives of the shelter animals, you can foster a cat or dog in your home, you can help fundraise, help at adoption events, or just go in and walk a dog or sit and pet a cat! Whatever you do, you will come away feeling that you have truly contributed and are part of something larger than yourself.
