Causes: Community & Neighborhood Development, Economic Development
Mission: To provide for the continued economic and architectural soundness of the downtown area of the city of troy, ohio, with a comprehensive revitalization strategy to stimulate economic development and to act as liaison between the downton businesses and local government. The mission of troy main street is to coordinate the efforts of all those dedicated to making downtown troy a better place to live, work, shop, celebrate, and invest.
Programs: Troy main street continued with the farmers market which showcased 30 - 34 vendors weekly from june to october. There were over 5400 participants who attended the market. We held the first annual chocolate walk which included 18+ downtown merchants and had over 125 participants. Troy main street also continued the downtown riverfront strategic development project which also includes a re-brand strategy for troy. This project is in conjunction with multiple local groups and the city of troy as we come together as a community for the betterment of the troy area. We continued holding the downtown summer concert series and also held a rock the bike music festival which was held in conjunction with the annual tour de donut bicycle race. All of the summer concerts are held free of charge and the entire community is welcome to come downtown for an evening full of fun and free music. The troy history walks were also offered again for the 2017 calendar year featuring several of the historical buildings and the uses of those buildings over the past 100+ years. Final fridays were held in conjunction with multiple themes covering such subjects as wellness, nutrition, non-profit, and dancing. The flower planters project also continued in 2017 with more than 64 planters located throughout the downtown area. In march 2017 the director resigned and the organization took the time to work with a consulting group in regards to our mission and plan. We spent several months strategizing on the structure and mission of the group. While troy main street was without a director, the executive board took the lead on the day to day operations. There were over 1472 volunteer hours from the 11 board members. In august we started the search for a new director and in october, the new director started in the position. For the fiscal year of 2017 there were in excess of 600 volunteers who donated their time to the troy main street events in addition to the volunteer hours from the board of directors.
