Tri-Valley Community Foundation

Programs: Donor advised funds - donor advised funds are established at the foundation when donors wish to simplify their giving. Donor advised funds are comprised of amounts donated by individuals, corporations and other organizations. Donors will typically write one check per year to the foundation and use a standard agreement as the basis to advise the foundation on granting funds to pre-selected charities. The foundation provides donors with periodic reports on their fund balance and any activity that occurred on the account.

youth achievement initiative - under the foundation's direction and sponsorship, the youth achievement initiative is a suite of projects that targets the needs of youth in our community at risk for emotional and behavioral problems, gang affiliation, school failure, and limited career options. Over the past 7 years, the youth achievement initiative has grown to include these projects conducted in concert with area high schools and las positas college: 1) the youth employability project, 2) the college foundation semester project and, 3) smart choices prevention & early interventaion project "boyz to men" and "stars".

grantmaking - the foundation supports the work of nonprofit service organizations, schools, and cultural arts programs throughout the tri-valley. Local, state, and federal tax-based funding is insufficient to remove the barriers to a bright future for all our children and ensure a high quality of life for all tri-valley residents. Foundation grants play an important role in bringing down barriers and creating cultural and educational opportunities that enrich our communities.
